X Y Jet headed to Dubai Golden Shaheen

X Y Jet wins the Sunshine Millions Sprint Stakes

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Jorge Navarro confirmed that leading local sprinter X Y Jet has indeed been invited to Dubai for the $2 million Golden Shaheen. The son of Kantharos has registered three straight lopsided victories, including the Grade 3 Mr. Prospector and the Sunshine Millions Sprint at this meet. He is expected to have his final prep for Dubai in the Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Sprint a week from Saturday.

Emisael Jaramillo, who has ridden X Y Jet to three straight victories, will be aboard the horse for the Golden Shaheen.

“We’ll use the Sprint as a prep to give him one more race before going to Dubai, instead of having to work him every seven or eight days,” said Navarro, who like Jaramillo is a native of Venezuela. “The horse is doing phenomenal. Where I come from, this is such a great honor. I was in tears when I heard the news. Right now, I think he’s one of the fastest horses around, taking nothing away from Runhappy, and I can’t wait to go.”

A previous version of this article misstated the purse of the Golden Shaheen. It is $2 million, not $1 million.
