Wyatt's Town will target Steel Valley Sprint at Mahoning Valley

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Wyatt’s Town hasn’t missed a beat since being claimed by Norm McKnight out of a $50,000 maiden-claiming event at Churchill Downs in May.
Wyatt’s Town went on to win that race, and has since won three consecutive starts for his new connections, including the King Corrie Stakes and the Ontario Jockey Club Stakes at Woodbine.
However, a lack of stakes options for open 3-year-old sprinters at Woodbine has McKnight looking elsewhere for racing opportunities. After considering running Wyatt’s Town in this Saturday’s Grade 3 Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx or the $200,000 Runhappy Stakes at Churchill Downs on Nov. 3, McKnight said he would point Wyatt’s Town toward the $250,000 Steel Valley Sprint over six furlongs on dirt at Mahoning Valley on Nov. 19.
“I think that race is going to come up too tough in Parx,” McKnight said. “There’s another option at Churchill for him on Breeders’ Cup Day, but that’ll be a little salty, too, so I think we’ll just wait.”
McKnight, who leads the trainer standings at Woodbine, said Wyatt’s Town has been in good order since his win in the Ontario Jockey Club Stakes on Sept. 2.
“He’s really got no issues that I know of and he trains straightforward every day,” he said.
