World of Trouble may return to dirt

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Jason Servis won Thursday’s $100,000 Quick Call Stakes with World of Trouble, who was trying the turf for the first time after making his first five starts on dirt.
World of Trouble had been scratched from the Grade 2 Amsterdam on dirt July 28 due to a temperature, and owner Mike Dubb suggested to Servis that the Quick Call, a race restricted to 3-year-olds, might be an option.
“My eyes lit up,” said Servis, believing there was a turf pedigree as World of Trouble was a son of Kantharos.
Though Servis was happy with the way World of Trouble ran on the turf, he said he might not keep him on that surface for his next start.
Servis said he would like to keep World of Trouble racing with 3-year-olds and mentioned the Grade 3, $300,000 Gallant Bob Stakes, a six-furlong dirt race for 3-year-olds on Sept. 22 at Parx Racing, as a potential next spot.
There is the Grade 1, $500,000 H. Allen Jerkens for 3-year-olds at seven furlongs on Aug. 25 at Saratoga, but Servis is already pointing Dwyer Stakes winner Firenze Fire to that spot.
If Servis does want to keep World of Trouble on turf, he could run him in the $100,000 Allied Forces on Sept. 8 at Belmont. If not, that would be a logical next spot for Fig Jelly.
World of Trouble earned a 92 Beyer Speed Figure for his Quick Call victory.
