Work All Week scores in Iowa Sprint Handicap

ALTOONA, Iowa – Prolific winner Work All Week ($7.60) tenaciously fought off a persistent challenge from the classy veteran Delaunay to register a half-length victory in Friday evening's $125,000 Iowa Sprint Handicap.
Work All Week, now the winner of seven straight races and 10 of 12 in his career, set demanding fractions of 21.92 seconds and 43.99 while being stalked by Delaunay, the $1.10-1 favorite in the field of six. Delaunay gained a neck advantage in the stretch before Work All Week responded to jockey Chris Emigh's drive to regain the advantage in the last 70 yards.
Delaunay, the winner of the Grade 3 Aristides at Churchill Downs on May 31, easily held second, 2 1/4 lengths ahead of Mico Margarita's closing bid.
Work All Week, bred and owned by Midwest Thoroughbreds Inc., is a 5-year-old City Zip gelding based at Arlington Park with trainer Roger Brueggemann. Earning $75,000 for his connections, Work All Week covered six furlongs over a track listed as “muddy” in a sharp 1:08.16.
