Wooderson, half to Rachel Alexandra, to stand in Arkansas

Stakes-placed Wooderson, a half-brother to Hall of Famer Rachel Alexandra, will begin his stud career for Burdette Thoroughbred Farm of Arkansas in 2021, becoming the latest stallion from this family in a regional marketplace.
Wooderson, by Awesome Again and out of the stakes-winning Roar mare Lotta Kim, won 3 of 10 career starts, with a maiden win at Saratoga as a 3-year-old later followed by allowance victories at Keeneland and Monmouth. He was second by a length in the 2019 Alydar Stakes at Saratoga to Tom’s d’Etat, now one of the top hores in training.

Lotta Kim is the dam of five winners from six starters, led by Rachel Alexandra, who won five Grade 1 races, three against males, in her unbeaten 2009 Horse of the Year campaign. In addition to Rachel Alexandra and Wooderson, she is the dam of Dolphus, who finished second in the Grade 3 Pimlico Special. He entered stud last year at Cabin Creek Farm in Bernville, Pa.
Rachel Alexandra’s two offspring were both winners on the track, with Rachel’s Valentina winning the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes as a juvenile and Jess’s Dream winning his only start. Jess’s Dream is a current freshman sire at Ocala Stud. Although he has yet to record a winner, all three of his runners are placed.
