Woodbine: Stuck in Traffic wires

Stuck in Traffic had clear sailing here in the $152,000 Vandal.

Heading straight to the front under jockey David Clark, Stuck in Traffic maintained a clear lead throughout, stopping the clock in 1:10.01 in the six-furlong race on Polytrack.

"Rain seems to really tighten this track down, and speed seems to carry the wetter it gets," said Clark. "It worked out perfect for him."

Stuck in Traffic, trained by Nick Gonzalez, returned $26.20 after holding off Don's Folly, the 7-5 favorite, by 1 1/4 lengths.

Not Bourbon ended another 2 1/4 lengths back as the third-place finisher in the field of 10 Ontario-foaled 2-year-olds.

* In the $75,400 With Approval, Sterwins, ridden by Patrick Husbands for trainer Malcolm Pierce, registered his first stakes victory in the 1o1/8-mile turf race for Ontario-foaled 3-year-olds and up. Sent off as the 3-4 choice in the field of six, Sterwins posted a half-length victory over The Niagara Queen, the only filly in the lineup.

French Beret ended another half-length back in third, nosing out Colorful Judgement.

Sterwins, a 4-year-old gelding owned and bred by Eugene Melnyk, arrived at Woodbine in mid-June.
