Woodbine stakes DQ appealed

Bill Tallon|Jul 06, 2007

The connections of Sealy Hill, who was disqualified from her first-place finish in the $250,000 Bison City at Woodbine last Sunday, have lodged an appeal with the Ontario Racing Commission.

Trainer Mark Casse, acting on behalf of himself and owner Eugene Melnyk and jockey Patrick Husbands, filed the paperwork for the appeal on Thursday. Husbands also had been given a three-day suspension.

The stewards ruled that Sealy Hill had come in and interfered with the unofficial third-place finisher, Quiet Jungle, during the stretch run of the Bison City.

Sealy Hill was placed third, with Street Sounds being elevated to the top spot.
