Woodbine: Reconnect scores at 70-1 in La Prevoyante
ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Reconnect swooped by most of the field on the outside in the stretch to capture the $126,600 La Prevoyante Stakes at 70-1 Saturday at Woodbine.
Reconnect bided her time in 11th on the backstretch, as L’Avenue and Isabella Bay vied through honest fractions in the one-mile turf route for Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies. Reconnect began to mount a rally midway on the turn, and then ran strongly through the stretch to score by a neck over Bubbles to the Top, in a time of 1:37.69.
L’Avenue held off Medabuck for third, and heavily favored Weekend Romance made a bid before fading to finish fifth in the 12-horse field.
“My horse was very comfortable back there,” said Omar Moreno, who rode Reconnect. “When I pulled the trigger, she really kicked in for me. I was really happy with the way things worked out.”
Reconnect, trained by Ashlee Brnjas, banked $75,000 in her stakes debut for Colebrook Farm.
