Woodbine Mohawk Park: Warrawee Ubeaut shines again in Breeders Crown elim

Warrawee Ubeaut's win streak now sits at seven after an effortless-looking 1:50 3/5 win in the single C$32,500 Breeders Crown 3-Year-Old Filly Pace elimination on Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Tall Drink Hanover (Andrew McCarthy) made her way around Beautyonthebeach (Doug McNair), who had rocketed to the front from post ten, passing the 26 4/5 opening quarter, but driver Yannick Gingras sent Warrawee Ubeaut to the outside from third, and she would be released to the front by Tall Drink Hanover.
After taking control, Warrawee Ubeaut was well-rated, stepping off a 55 3/5 half and a 1:24 3/5 three-quarters, and with Queen Of The Pride (Brian Sears) stalled first-over, she didn't have to face a challenge either. Off that easy middle-half a sprint for home was a given, and Warrawee Ubeaut kicked out a 26 second final panel to defeat Tall Drink Hanover by two lengths. Philly Hanover (Dexter Dunn) rallied for third.
Completing the eight fillies to advance to the final where they'll meet with bye-takers Sunny Dee and Treacherous Reign were Beautyonthebeach, Ideation Hanover (James MacDonald), Queen Of The Pride, Bestseller Hanover (Scott Zeron), and Stonebridge Soul (Tim Tetrick).
"That was his idea, but no doubt I think that was the right call to race her," Gingras said about trainer Ron Burke's decision not to take a bye into the final. "That way you take eight, nine, ten out of the equation, as long as you win, obviously, but we were both confident that she would. She's great. There's no other words to describe her. She's perfect to drive. When I called on her at the top of the stretch, she was like coming out of her skin she was pacing so strong."
A daughter of Sweet Lou, Warrawee Ubeaut is trained by Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Phil Collura, J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby, and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. This was her 18th career victory, and she has now pocketed C$1,329,555. The 1-5 choice, she paid $2.50 to win. Warrawee Ubeaut will be looking for her second straight Breeders Crown title as she won the 2-Year-Old Filly Pace last year.
"Now that we've got her pretty much dialed in, it's just keep doing what we're doing," remarked Burke. "When we were trying to teach her to become this filly it was a little bit harder. Sometimes she took losses that you were thinking maybe we should just roll her all out and she could hang on, but we knew it would come to the day where she would learn to do this, or at least we hoped, and now she's become a complete horse.
"Now this week she'll have a pretty easy week. She'll just jog a couple days and train one day, and the training now is just to maintain. Last week we trained her to be ready for this week and next week. Now we're just going to maintain and try and make her fresh. She doesn't need a lot of work. She's fit and ready right now; we'll just make sure she's fresh and happy."
