Woodbine Mohawk Park: Unevergonnagethis posts OSS Gold Series upset

11-1 shot Unevergonnagethis came up with his first Ontario Sires Stakes victory at an opportune time, taking the lone C$199,900 Gold Series tilt for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters on Thursday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park in a lifetime-best 1:53 3/5.
Starting from post eight, Unevergonnagethis was sent out of there by driver Jody Jamieson, and he had to work until after a fast 26 1/5 opening quarter to get by Star Power Hanover (Scott Young) to take command. Jamieson then backed down the tempo to 56 1/5 at the half and 1:25 3/5 at three-quarters while also successfully handling a first-over try by Armstead Cole (Doug McNair) on the last turn.
In the lane Unevergonnagethis was able to put away Armstead Cole for good, and although Ontario Sires Stakes stalwart and 4-5 favorite Twin B Archie (James MacDonald) was in perfect striking position from second-over, he didn't have the kick to get by Unevergonnagethis, falling two lengths short at the wire. Safe Conduct (Chris Christoforou) was the third-place finisher.

"I'm not going to lie, I was pretty concerned when 26 1/5 flashed up. It's a lot more than he's ever been over to the quarter before, but he answered the bell. I was proud of his effort," remarked winning trainer Jeff Gillis.
Gillis also owns Unevergonnagethis, a Muscle Mass gelding bred by Kentuckiana Farms and Celebrity Farms. Winless in four starts as a freshman, Unevergonnagethis has four victories in seven attempts this year and has banked C$151,756. He returned $24.90 to win.
