(10) SHOTGUN PREACHER showed a bit of late interest in his debut with his trainer driving and now catch-driver Henry jumps into the sulky; call to upset in a wide-open race. (2) ALYVIA DEO lacked room in the pocket for most of the stretch drive last week and she should be a big threat here. (4) SOUTHWIND SYLVESTR is getting closer and he’s the third one I’ll use in this Pick 5, but I wouldn’t take a short win price. (9) INSTANT KARMA raced a bit better last week, showing speed early; consider for the Super or Tri.
Race 2 – ONTARIO SIRES STAKES - GRASSROOTS - 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES
(2) CAMBRIDGE KATE stretched her legs last week in preparation for the Grassroots contest now she moves inside; expect early aggression. (1) LEFKADA comes in off a sharp win and she should be the main threat racing from close range. (5) ORDER MATTIE beat older conditioned horses at Kawartha Downs on Saturday night and she’s worth a look here for the exotics if she goes on short rest. (3) LUCKY JOHANNA is a good one to use on the bottom of Tris and Supers here.
Race 3 – CLM HDCP $18,000 TO $25,000
(7) RACEMUP raced huge in defeat last week now he goes for trainer Auciello racing off the fresh claim. You know where he’s headed leaving the gate. Catch him to greet the cashier. (5) ROCKIN WIZARD was too far back last week and he had little chance. I think Henry leaves for position with him this time and he would have a good chance if he lands in the choice’s pocket at the start. (1) DEVILS PEAK closed well without threatening now he goes for a high % barn off the claim; using. (4) LEADER TONIGHT should be good for another share here.
Race 4 – ONTARIO SIRED 3YO Fillies, NW $13,000 L5 – **GTD $50K Pick 4**
(6) CINDERELLA DELIGHT was just behind two very sharp fillies last week and she should handle these if she gets a reasonable trip. (7) BETCHA BABY faced some elders the past two starts and she didn’t fair terribly. Now she is back with sophomores and adds Lasix; using. (2) FREYA SEELSTER is another who is capable in this race – one where tactics and intent are hard to predict – and I’ll use her in the multi-race bets, too. (8) CHARMBO BRIE should be passing some of these late and she can take a slice here.
Race 5 – NW 5 (FM 7) or $85,000 (FM $116,500) LT
(2) HIGHLAND DYNAMITE tried it first up vs. much tougher last time – including repeat winner Hey Livvy – and she has a much better shot vs. these; top call. (3) SHES GOT PIZAZZ showed some late interest in that same race in her first start back and she is capable of showing improvement here; using. (4) CINDY LYNN faced the very tough sophomore All Wrapped Up last time and she fits much better here. She’s another in with a decent chance in a wide-open field. (5) NOTHING BUT MUSCLE roared home to beat easier. I prefer to use him underneath in this spot.
Race 6 – ONTARIO SIRES STAKES - GRASSROOTS - 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES
(5) HALO ITS ME was bottled up until it was too late last time, but once free she was flying and just ran out of racetrack. She gets the nod here over (4) CHAMPAGNE JANE, who is sure to get more aggressive early. This race could come down to these two late. (3) MERCEDES TALMA is another who should go better here, but I prefer to use her underneath. (2) WARAWEE ULTRA is a great one to use in the 3-4 slots in Tri and Super bets.
Race 7 – CLM HDCP $12,000 to $15,000
(2) TOXICITY tried hard racing without cover last time. If he can work out a better trio, he might be tough to beat here. (1) FAMILY SPORTS moves inside and he should last much longer here racing up front. (7) JULERICA was relentless at Flamboro last time despite racing wide on the far turn, now he gets Roy to drive; consider for Pick 4 tickets. (3) WINDSONG NAPOLEON was right there in this class last week, but considering he is 2 for his last 62 makes me want to use him underneath.
Race 8 – ONTARIO SIRES STAKES - GRASSROOTS - 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES
(6) SPLURGE ON ME stopped in the final 1/4 last time now she adds Lasix which is a logical move. She gets the nod here. (5) REBELLIOUS LADY looked a winner then hung late last time, but she fits here, and she should be a threat. (1) MISS CONGENIALITY is sneaky here coming off a decent try and now drawing inside. (2) GALAXY SEELSTER can get a slice here if she stays flat this time; using on the bottom.
Race 9 – NW $10,000 L5 or NW $20,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $30,000
(6) ODDS ON AMETHYST is improving every week it seems and he could get a great setup for his late kick here; top call. (7) R FIRST CLASS produced an effort that should have been good enough to win, but the mare that beat him closed like she was shot out of cannon. He should be a big threat here. (9) WHAT A RUSH is sharp, but post and trip will likely limit his chances of winning, but he can share. (5) KAMERAN HANOVER is another that I think will share but I prefer to use underneath.
Race 10 – 4YO and Younger NW2 or $25,000 LT
(9) MOHAWK SEELSTER took it to a big chalk in the third 1/4 last week and he wasn’t allowed to clear. There are none in here that should provide that type of disdain and he can lead these all the way. (8) APEX SEELSTER raced tough in both starts since he requalified, and he looks like the main danger here. (3) SHADOW OF A DAUT should get a decent following trip here and hang around to take a share. (6) MACHPAPERSCISSORS comes out of a quick qualifier and he raced well here in the spring; consider for the exotics. (2) JONAH is worth a look for the exotics making his second start back and moving inside.
