Race 1

(8) SPLURGE ON ME didn’t handle the off track at Hanover, but her races before make her a top contender in this field; top call. (9) SNOOKER has come around in her past few starts, and she should be a threat with a decent start here. (4) ERAMOSA MAGIC made a middle move vs. better last time and she’s in with a chance here, likely at a square price. (2) ANGEL STATUS is three for six but will likely need more speed vs. these.

Race 2

(4) WARAWEE ULTRA fits Grassroots company better and this isn’t the toughest spot; slight nod. (5) GALAXY SEELSTER’s August 7th race would play well here if she could recapture that form. I’ll toss her in the Pick 5. (9) ORDER MATTIE has been consistent most of the year and even from post 9 she should contend vs. these. (8) NECESSITY is a nicely-bred first timer worth a look in this spot.

Race 3

(1) BOYS TOWN was an unlucky 2nd last week when the winner slipped up the inside at the last second. He should be tough in this spot. (6) FACE THE CHALLENGE was live at the wire in the same race and he’s another who should be right there vs. these. (3) DA DELIGHTFUL was driven passively last time but check out how aggressively he was driven in the two preceding Grassroots races. He should be right in the mix here from the outset. (5) PURE SUNSHINE rolled into town and faced elders but didn’t have much zip in the lane. He should improve here, the question is: how much?

Race 4

(2) MACH MESSIER paced his back 1/2 in 54 1/5 last week and in a race where there figures to be plenty of early pace, this race may fall into his lap at a price. (6) SINGHAMPTON KENNY moves from the worst post to one of the best ones coming off a win and a claim and he should be the one to beat again. (9) A BOY NAMED SUUZZ is in great form, but post and trip is a concern here with a few leavers lined up inside of him. (7) REGIL TIGER has been closing well in recent weeks and he could better this placing with a good trip.

Race 5

(8) ARIANA G had the toughest trip in the Maple Leaf Trot final, but she stayed game to the wire. A slightly better trip gets her a win here. (5) DANCER HALL should get put into play earlier here and that makes him a contender. (3) DUNBAR HALL gave them the slip last week, but these are tougher; your call. (4) LINDY THE GREAT continues to race well and he should take a piece of this.

Race 6

(7) KENOGAMI DARLING’s race here on August 7th would make her very hard to beat if she could reproduce it here. I’ll single her based on that race in her only Grassroots try to date. (5) AT WILL looks like the main danger if she stays flat. (4) REBELLIOUS LADY flashed some good late speed last time and she is one to consider for the exotics here. (1) LADY GABBIE was good in the slop at Hanover and she will likely get overlooked here. She might crack the Super at a price.

Race 7

(4) THISISHOWWEDOIT was completely taken out of the race by dead cover last week, and he gets a positive driver change here. I’ll stick with him. (3) WAGER ON ME has faced a steady diet of Bronx Seelster recently and this spot is obviously easier; using. (1) CENTURY FARROH was an easy winner last week, but he didn’t beat much there. I’ll use him in the Pick 4 but wouldn’t take a short price in the win pool. (6) PASSIONATE PRINCE is on the upswing and he merits consideration for all slots here.

Race 8

(7) WINNING LYRIC had no chance of closing into a rapid final 1/4 last time, but he fits better here and gets a slight nod over (8) P L JILL who is an obvious contender, but one who could blow up in any race. (5) BUZZ should get position early leaving from the middle of the gate and that makes him a contender here. (6) GO PAPPY GO got free too late last time after being in a blind switch for most of the stretch drive; consider for exotics here.

Race 9

(6) MAINTENANCE MAN was a sharp winner vs. Grassroots foes two starts back and he has a good shot of taking these wire-to-wire. (11) THE FIRST STEP exits a race that was filled with Gold division types and he should improve sharply here. (4) KEYSTONE PRESTIGE also faces easier and although still a maiden, he could upset here with the right trip. (3) B STONEY has been solid in Grassroots races all summer and he is hard to leave off Pick 4 tickets in this spot.

Race 10

(4) ST JAMES GATE should get away better here and that gives him a decent chance to chase down the speed. (3) A ROD HALL got a clean line following a break now he moves inside. He should get put into the race this time. (2) THE POWER OF MANY is as consistent as they come, and she should take another share here racing on or near the lead. (5) STORMONT VENTNOR excels in OSS Gold races vs. his own age group and he’ll probably get over bet here in a race that could be a tune up for another lucrative sire stakes engagement.

Race 11

(7) BETTER MOONON OVER faces easier in this Grassroots spot and he may get sent right down the road like he was at Grand River in his Battle of Waterloo elimination. (6) JMS DELIGHT raced tough last time coming off a break and he looks like the main threat to the choice. (2) BUELLER improved sharply last week and he should take another share here passing horses late. (8) TWIN B FEARLESS always finishes on the edges and he can complete the Tri or Super here.

Race 12

(9) ON A SUNNY DAY was on a roll here before breaking at Tioga. She can get back on track in this spot. (4) TRY TRY AGAIN has hit his best stride and he should be a contender in this spot. (2) IL SOGNO DREAM imposed his will last week and he will likely be the one to catch again here; using. (5) R FIRST CLASS is getting closer to that elusive first 2018 win and he is another who should be in the mix in this contentious finale. (3) LEAN HANOVER steps up off a nice win and he can pick up some pieces late here.
