Race 1 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool
Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool
Pick 5 – 3,6,7,8/3/2,7/1,3,9/1,3,4,8 = $19.20
Early Pick 4 – 1,3,9/1,3,4,8/1,6/2,3,5 = $72
Late Pick 4 – 2,3,5/1/4,6,9/5,6,7 = $27
Race 1 – OSS Grassroots 2YO Fillies - GTD $50K Pick 5
(8) PLAY LADY PLAY had a tightener for this where she had little chance, racing parked most of the way near the back in a race where the late pace accelerated sharply. Now, it's go time. (6) COQUI COQUI passed horses and gained ground in the fastest 1/4 of the race; a good sign. I'll use her in the Pick 5. (3) HIGHLAND SALSA and (7) LOOK N FABULOUS both paced their final 3/4 in 1:24 flat in the June 27th qualifier and either could upset here if put into play
Race 2 – Preferred
(3) MUSICAL RHYTHM brought home more than $40K U.S. when he came flying late to get second money in the Cleveland Trotting Classic. On current form, speed and class, he towers over these. (7) DANCER HALL had a decent comeback race and he might close for second this time. (1) FREE WILLY HANOVER is as honest as they come, and he should take another good share here. (4) P L JILL can be right there when she produces her best, but she remains unpredictable from week-to-week.
Race 3 – CLM HDCP $18K to $25K
(7) RACEMUP always looked a winner last week and he did it in new life’s best time. He’ll be tough to beat here. (2) FAMILY SPORTS has also been hot, and he is the main danger here although if the choice rides in his pocket he will have his hands full trying to repel him. (1) MY TEEN IDOL can sit another nice trip here, but he may be racing for third. (5) JIMMY BE GOOD can close mildly and sneak onto the Super ticket.
Race 4 – OSS Grassroots 2YO Fillies - GTD $50K Pick 4
(1) EVEN LOUDER displayed high late speed in both qualifiers and she is one of many from the first crop of North America Cup winner Thinking Out Loud racing tonight. She gets a slight nod in a tricky race. (9) GOT POWER was allowed to stroll around the track carving out snail-like fractions after breaking stride momentarily early. She needed frequent urging in that race to go on. I’m not sold taking odds-on is a good idea here on this filly. (4) SHE THE NORTH hung in there late when the pace really picked up in her June 27th qualifier. I’ll use her on multi-race tickets. (8) IN LAND BEACH had a race and she is one that looks like she can land in the Super.
Race 5 – OSS Grassroots 2YO FILLIES
(5) SOUTHWIND MYRTLE was the only one that tried the leader last time, but by then the damage had been done and there was no chance of getting past. She can take this with a more aggressive steer. (8) BETTORBEASECRET produced sub-28 speed in both final quarters and she’s worth a look here in her first Grassroots start. (3) SO DELIGHTFUL improved sharply in her second qualifier and she goes for connections that excel with rookies; using. (1) FIORELLA is another possibility in a pari-mutuel puzzler of a race.
Race 6 – Ontario Sired 3YO Fillies Grassroots starters in 2019
This race looks like it will come down to (6) SPLURGE ON ME and (1) HALO ITS ME deciding it. The former is on a roll, so she gets the nod, but I’ll use both in the Pick 4. (3) P L MOLLY won at Dresden, but this is a different ballgame here; using underneath. (4) WITCHES N ANGELS is improving, and she can take a slice here.
Race 7 – OSS Grassroots 2YO Fillies Late Pick 4
(5) KEEP WATCHING is from the first crop of a sire who has turned heads early. He could pop here at a square price. (3) LANDRY SEELSTER paced his back 1/2 in 55 3/5 on June 27th and he should be a major factor here. (2) NO WHERE TO HIDE is the third one I’ll use on Pick 4s based on the speed the Bettors Delight colt showed on July 2nd. (7) PANERAI ships in and goes into the Coleman barn. He can improve and hit the ticket here.
Race 8 – 2YO Fillies
(1) LAINIE HANOVER has a debut win that is several seconds faster than any miles her rivals have paced so far. She should repeat as a big chalk here. (4) SING THE BLUES goes for a sharp barn and looks ready; Exacta factor. (7) CLASSICA shows signs of being a nice racehorse; using underneath. (6) ALEXA SKYE can go much better here; discount the equipment break last time.
Race 9 – OSS Grassroots 2YO Fillies
(6) SOUTHWIND BAYOU closed ground into the fastest 1/4 of the race. She looks as good as any here. (9) CAPISTRANO has trained well this winter and spring and he gets James Macdonald in the bike here; using. (4) CANT THINK looks primed for a good debut effort; another to consider in a wide-open race. (1) THINKINGOFYOUBABE can share if she behaves this time.
Race 10 – NW $3K L5 or NW $7K L10
(5) VEYRON woke up with a much better effort last time and that was his first good result in several races. He stays at this level and can get the job done here if provided with a decent trip. (6) KENDRAS COCO is always a threat at this level. Look for her to be sent hard off the gate. (7) SMOKE MONKEY needed room earlier last week. She remains a viable option here. (8) OCEANVIEW DEB faces easier but Roy opted for the choice over this one; using underneath. (3) ALEXUS EH can come on late and sneak into the top 5.
