Race 1 – OSS Grassroots 2YO Fillies – **GTD $50K Pick 5**
(7) YEN made a big middle move in her Grassroots debut which should bode well for a good effort on the big track here; slight nod in one of several tough races tonight. (4) BRA IN THE WIND looks promising for veteran trainer/driver Sheppard and she is a player here. (8) BRINYS A FLIRT blew up with a potential win coming and if she behaves this time, she may lead these all the way. (3) ENJOYIN MY LIFE exits the fastest race. She should finish closer against these.
Race 2 – OSS Grassroots 2YO Fillies
(3) FOX VALLEY SHAZAM had nothing go right in her debut vs. Gold fillies. She gets to face easier here and draws much better and a complete turnaround in form would be no surprise. (7) MODERN MASS – a $85,000 yearling – passed some horses in the fastest 1/4 of her debut mile which is an angle that can produce some good prices next out; using. (6) ST HELENS raced only evenly at Georgian, but things can turn around in a hurry if McNair sends her at the start here. I’ll toss her in the Pick 5. (4) PIER HO KADO is another who raced evenly on debut who is in with a shot here.
Race 3 – Whenuwishuponastar – 1st Leg – 2YO Fillies
(1) ALEXA SKYE looks fastest here, but there are others who figure, and I won’t take a short price. (6) LAINIE HANOVER beat the choice on July 9th and she should be a threat here returning to Mohawk Park. (2) LIBSPEAK was picked off late after slowing the pace which sometimes happens. She remains a viable contender here. (3) MARTINIQUE BEACH can go better here with a different trip; consider for exotics.
Race 4 – OSS Grassroots – 2YO Fillies – **GTD $50K Pick 4**
(1) ALPINA was way too far back in a slow pace last time but she did make some encouraging headway late and she could improve sharply now. (7) TH PRESENT comes off a strong first-over win and she could be the one to beat here. (4) CANADIAN TITAN has shown good late speed in every start and that puts her in the mix here. (10) JULA SHES MAGIC could hit the ticket if she gets involved early as she has done in her first two starts.
Race 5 – OSS Grassroots 2YO Fillies
(6) PRINCESSPARTYPANTS closes well in her debut which should be a perfect primer for this stakes try; slight nod. (3) GODDESS DE VIE faced a tough on in her debut and dropping from Golds to Grassroots puts her squarely in contention. (9) READY TO DEAL had a promising opener and she’s another to consider for Pick 4 and Pick 5 tickets. (4) ANDOVER THE HALO may sneak onto the Super ticket at a price here if she accepts an inside following trip.
Race 6 – CLM HDCP $18K to $25K
Moreau and Roy seem to have (6) P L IDAHO figured out and he projects to get the kind of pace setup that he likes here. A threepeat looms. (8) ROCKIN WIZARD interestingly goes for a tag here when missing another check would have enabled him to drop to the bottom conditioned level next week. Is he priced to win and get claimed? (5) FAMILY SPORTS is solid when he can get a breather but I’m not sure he can slow the pace down this time; using underneath. (3) JIMMY BE GOOD should be passing some winded horses down the lane here.
Race 7 – OSS Grassroots 2YO Fillies
(8) MAG N ROSES gets top call here dropping from Golds to Grassroots for her second start. (6) EXPELLIARMUS raced much better with a catch driver last time and that teamster sticks here; using. (7) RIDE TOI JUSTICE had a good enough debut to make her a contender here. (10) CRAVING YOU gets Henry here so he may be sending from out there. Consider as a bomb with a chance.
Race 8 – Whenuwishuponastar – 1st Leg – 2YO Fillies
(5) REFLECT WITH ME’s identical 25 1/5 kickers at the Meadowlands speak for themselves. It’s go time now and this stakes series will likely be her coming out party. (4) LADY LOU packs a solid 1-2 Alagna punch with the choice but she may have a hard time handling her stablemate here. (2) SOMEBEACHSOMETIME looks promising but she’ll have her hands full here on debut; using underneath. (6) FREE FLYING TICKET was used hard last time and she paid the price in the lane. She can rebound and take a share here.
Race 9 – OSS Grassroots 2YO Fillies
(10) FLUFF looked good powering away from her rivals in her debut at Georgian. McClure who has shown strong skills with young trotters, can work out the winning trip from out there. (1) APHRODITE DUKE has already won one of these Grassroots races with Henry driving. She is a no-brainer to include in the late Pick 4. (4) LUCKY WITCH raced okay in her debut and if she can avoid going first up here, she might hit the ticket. (8) ROYAL PEACH’s second qualifier was decent enough to give her a look for the exotics.
Race 10 – Ontario Sired 2YO NW1 or $5,000 LT
(2) SAM MCKEE HANOVER faces way easier here and it’s hard to imagine anything but a down the road win at odds-on. (5) LOUS DELIGHT draws better after racing decently from the worst post; Exacta factor. (6) BETTER TAKE IT’s race two starts back puts him in the mix here; consider for exotics. (4) U BETTIM WATCHING should get better position early here and come on late for a slice. (1) MACK can improve here, and his 27-flat kicker makes him interesting for the High-5.
