Race 1 – 2-year-olds

(4) RUN LIKE HILL is a full-brother to 1:53 4/5 trotter Smart as Hill and he may bring a decent price here first out. I’ll stab here in a race with several possibilities. (9) NYLANDER looks ready for a solid debut but he may also be odds-on which is hard to take on a debuting two-year-old trotter from the worst post. (8) MODERN MASS is worth a look for the early Pick 5 off her one good qualifier. (7) SVF BLUSHINGBRIDE had a start and it was decent; another possibility.

Race 2 – Ontario Sired 3YO Fillies, Grassroots Starters in 2019

(3) MATTYS SMILIN became eligible for this race when she started in a Grassroots event for the first time in her last start. You’ll notice she was very close to winning a Gold two starts back. The trainer driving will boost the price; call to upset. (9) SPLURGE ON ME is on a great roll and is obviously the one to knock off. (2) CHAMPAGNE JANE raced much better last time and she’s another in with an upset chance here. (7) BLUE MAGIC is a good one to use on the bottom of Tri and Super bets.

Race 3 – CLM HDCP $18K to $25K

(6) FAMILY SPORTS dodges the hot PL IDAHO here and he can get back on track vs. these. (3) LISVINNIE should appreciate the short field here. He will be coming late. (2) DOVUTO HANOVER has done his best work for Auciello/Drury so I’m not sure about this barn change – even to Moreau’s. I won’t take a short price. (1) MY TEEN IDOL should be good for another minor share.

Race 4 – NW $3K L5 or $7K L10

(5) MONTALBANO BI isn’t the most trustworthy, but he’s classy and has enough speed for these when he behaves. (9) THEMANOFMYDREAMS faces easier here and he should be a player if he can work a trip out leaving from out there. (7) BANK GUARD is another that has been facing some tough ones out of town. He is in with a decent chance here. (4) MYSTERY BET has raced well here many times in the past and he may sneak onto the Tri or Super at a big price.

Race 5 – Two Year Olds

(4) NATIONAL SPORT dropped from Gold to Grassroots and produced a big effort from post 10 to win; call to repeat. (5) PLAY THE PONIES should improve here facing easier. Check out the kicker in his debut two starts back. (2) FULL VIEW seems an obvious threat on paper, but he was a bit one-paced in the lane last time in a race where he had a golden trip. I’ll try to beat him again. (9) NIGHT WATCHMAN is worth a look for the bottom of Supers off a decent debut mile.

Race 6 – 4YO and Younger NW2 (F&M 3) or $20K (F&M $25K) LT

(4) SHAMROCK SHAKER adds Lasix and maybe that’s the key to getting that last 1/8th of a mile on the front end; slight nod. (6) LOVE WARRIOR is improving every start and she should be a big threat here. (8) ANGRY EYES comes off two big efforts in a row and it won’t be long before she notches win #2. (1) MACALLAN is showing some positive signs and I’ll toss him on my early Pick 4 ticket.

Race 7 – Ontario Sired 2YO NW $5K LT

(9) DAY DELIGHT’s effort two back likely wins this so I imagine Jamieson will be sending. He gets top call here. (2) PRESS TIME was just behind the choice in that race after taking a major shuffle. He should be the main danger. (7) RHYTHM IN MOTION is by a sire who has been hot recently. He’s worth a look on debut here. (3) GIDDY UP MAX is capable of a nice late rally to nab a share.

Race 8 – 2YO Fillies

You can put a line through (6) SHEER ENERGY’s debut race. She can bounce back here. (8) PRINCESSPARTYPANTS looks primed for a big debut effort and she’s the other one that I’ll use in the late Pick 4. (3) WYND CREEK had a good opener vs. a tough foe. She isn’t out of this. (10) ENJOYIN MY LIFE should go better here dropping out of Golds.

Race 9 – Ontario Sired 2YO Fillies NW $5K LT

(3) ROSE RUN VANTAGE was a big winner at odds of 1 to 9 in her debut on the Maritimes. The way she finished that mile suggests she should drop enough time here to beat these. (5) MYSTIC SHADOW improved sharply in her second start and she should be the main threat to the choice. (7) WATCH MY SPEED is by a hot first-crop sire and a 1/2-sister to local speedball Ideal Jet. There’s a good chance that there’s more under her hood than you see from that one Kawartha Downs line. (1) HIDDEN VIEW is related to a few decent racehorses; consider for the exotics on debut.

Race 10 – 4YO and Younger NW 2 or $25K

(4) WHAT UP MO has produced two super efforts in a row, and he should be tough to beat at a short price here. (8) LYONS COPPERTOP made several moves in a strong effort where a tripped out winner sailed by late. He should be right there again. (1) RAYS KREDIT should get pushed out for position off the gate and he could sit a nice trip here and hit the board at a price. (3) YARIS SEELSTER should be closer early and that makes him a player here for at least a share. (2) VELOCITY POPROCKS ships north with good form; using on the bottom.
