Race 1
(2) TORRIN HANOVER may have been best in both starts so far, but he was compromised by trip both times. Moving inside, I have to think he takes control early here and breaks his maiden. (4) SPORTS BAND came close at this level two starts back and he kicked home in 27 flat. He's a threat here. (3) MALDIVES has good form out of town and Steacy has been known to pop with this kind, but I'll use this one underneath. (6) ARUKIDINME CABBIE is erratic but capable of hitting the ticket if he behaves.
Race 2
Many of these Grassroots races are complete crapshoots, so I'll go price shopping here with (9) ZEYNEP - who dropped five seconds in his second qualifier and gets McNair driving for his dad. (2) ANGEL HANDS faced a couple of fillies that are destined for Gold competition in her debut. She fits better here and has an experience advantage over some rivals. (4) CHURCH BELLS was a good third to Sportswriter's 1/2-sister in her debut. She should be a threat here. (1) BLOSSOM ONTHEBEACH is worth a look at first asking for connections that send them ready.
Race 3
(11) LINNEA was coming off a bout of sickness prior to her debut and she still prevailed at big odds. It's reasonable to expect improvement here. (4) BETTER NOW paced her own back 1/2 in 54 4/5 and could do no better than 5th. That start should prime her for a good try here. (2) SUGAR SHADOW is related to several winners and worth using here in her debut. (5) WARAWEE UPSIDE sports some sharp final quarters and is another who can step up and win this.
Race 4
(3) MIGHTY NICKY goes for Moreau for a second time here and takes a slight drop. I'll give him the nod in a race full of possibilities. (4) CABERTOSS exits a quick mile where he could only close mildly. His late kick should play better here. (5) ZEUS LIGHTNING has done well in this class this season and he should be a contender here again. (7) THE POWER OF MANY steps up off the claim, and while the barn is deadly in these situations, these may be too tough for her. Let price be your guide with this mare.
Race 5
(3) THAT'S INCREDIBLE flew home in her lone qualifier and she should get put into play earlier here; top call. (7) SOFT WIND HANOVER had no shot with the trip she had in her opener. Expect a much more aggressive try here. (2) PERSISTANT XAMPLE - a $40K Harrisburg buy - looks ready for a sharp debut effort; using. (4) LADY DRIVER has a start under her belt and is another I will use in multi-race tickets here.
Race 6
(7) IDEATION HANOVER was bought for $50K at Harrisburg and she is sent out by a barn that frequently wins early; top call. (6) MACH THIS DAY did okay when facing a very good filly in her debut and that race should be a perfect tightener for this Grassroots race. (4) SPORTY SONG is another who finished quickly in her lone qualifier; using. (2) SUNSHINE INN missed by the scantest nose in her debut and The Stable has been firing on all cylinders so far. She is in with a shot here.
Race 7
(6) BUZZ drops back to the level where he took a new life's mark two starts back. He gets my nod here. (1) PAPPY GO GO was sharp in his Mohawk debut and he merits respect in this spot. (5) SLIP INTO GLIDE is on a great roll and hard to leave out despite moving up in class. (4) MARQUIS VOLO has improving form and while he's not out of this, I expect him to close late and fill one of the bottom exotic rungs.
Race 8
(4) KYLIE SEELSTER raced well to just miss in her debut and she looks best here. (1) MACHLIKEANEGYPTIAN - a $60K Harrisburg purchase - is a 1/2-sister to 15-time winner Beach Boogie and trainer Coleman has fired several bullets with her rookies already. Toss her in the late Pick 4. (2) JUSTJENNYSLIBERTY - bought for $8,500 at the London Select sale - probably has more under the hood than what you see from that one qualifier on the Maritimes. I'll use her underneath. (9) HARD EIGHT is worth a look at a price going for a barn that has been going well.
Race 9
(9) DANCER HALL has been exceptional while climbing the ladder to the top class and he's showed he belongs in his three starts at this level. I'll stick with the sharp horse. (7) DIA MONDE certainly qualifies on class alone, but he needs to show more. I'll use him in this Pick 4 but wouldn't take a short win price. (8) WARAWEE ROO can't seem to get past the choice; smaller share predicted. (1) KAMERAN HANOVER is a nice horse, but the top ones are likely too tough, and he will come late for a small share.
Race 10
(1) KARANS CHOICE is one of two winners in the field and she draws well for her initial Grassroots try; slight nod. (6) SUNSHINEATTHEBEACH has faced better in both starts. Expect improvement here. (9) BLACKCHEDDAR improved her late speed in her second qualifier and she's worth a look here. (5) REDHOT N SPORTY goes for a barn that has dent out her 1/2-sister to win twice already this summer. She is in with an upset chance here.
Race 11
(3) SURF REPORT raced great off the claim, but he couldn't match the 1:50 3/5 speed of the winner. I'll give him the nod here with that rival gone. (9) LISVINNIE has been racing well for weeks and he could benefit by taking a stalking approach here. (8) CHARMBO ORBIT was a good 2nd to a big chalk last time and he fits here; using. (6) WEB CAM is another who is in good form that should be contentious in this competitive dash. (10) DEEPFAVE HANOVER took a new life's mark when claimed now he gets stuck in the worst post. A small share is probably his ceiling here.
