Woodbine Mohawk Park: Three supplement to Canadian Pacing Derby, Milton Stakes

Woodbine Mohawk Park received three supplements to upcoming Open stakes events ahead of today’s (August 24) deadline.

The Canadian Pacing Derby (Gr. 1) received two supplements, Best Chip and Ayeaye Captain Deo, while the Milton Stakes (Gr. 2) for pacing mares received a supplement entry for Francent N.

The supplement fee for the Canadian Pacing Derby was $40,000 (CAD). The Milton Stakes fee was $20,000 (CAD).

Best Chip currently holds the fastest mark of the season in North America at 1:46 1/5. The Joe Bongiorno trained 4-year-old has won seven of 12 starts this season, including two in sub-1:47 speed. The son of Heston Blue Chip is owned by El Dorado Stable of Fort Myers, Florida.

Ayeaye Captain Deo is the co-fastest horse in Canada this season with a mark of 1:47 3/5 taken in a Graduate Series leg at Woodbine Mohawk Park in May. The 4-year-old son of Captaintreacherous has three wins and eight top three finishes from 12 starts this season for owner Gino Toscani and trainer Garry Merner.

Owner Ecurie CSL of Quebec has supplemented New Zealand import Francent N to the Milton Stakes off two wins in four starts since arriving in North America. Racing at Yonkers for Pat Lachance, the 6-year-old mare has won each of her last two starts, including a 1:51 4/5 victory in the Mares Invitational last Friday.

The entry box for both the Canadian Pacing Derby and Milton Stakes closes tomorrow (Tuesday, August 25) at 10:30 a.m.

If necessary, the Milton Stakes eliminations will be held this Friday (August 28), while the Canadian Pacing Derby eliminations will go this Saturday (August 29).
