Sugar Packet and driver Jody Jamieson rallied from the pocket at the head of the stretch and rolled on to an impressive score, capturing Saturday's Grade 1 C$385,000 Peaceful Way Stakes final for 2-year-old trotting fillies at Woodbine Mohawk Park in a personal-best 1:53 3/5 clocking. Jamieson had the daughter of Six Pack on the gate and left alertly, securing the front into the first turn. Longshot Shimmering Hanover and driver Louis Roy took control past the 27 1/5 opening quarter. When raced favorite One Belle moved to secure the lead prior to the 56 2/5 half, she took a misstep, and Roy and Shimmering Hanover held pylon position and control. Following three-quarters in 1:25 1/5, Sugar Packet exploded from the pocket and drew off with a powerful 28 2/5 final quarter to leave Bingo Night in the dust, with Shimmering Hanover holding on for third. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Trained by Blake Macintosh, who won this stake a year ago with Monalishi, Sugar Packet is co-owned by Macintosh along with Bay Pond Racing and Ozzie Mackay. It was the third win in seven starts for the freshman filly, an $11,000 purchase from last year's Lexington Selected auction. Winbak Farm bred Sugar Packet. "I've had good luck with Six Packs," Macintosh said in the post-race interview. "She was a beautiful horse." Macintosh was a bit concerned with Sugar Packet following a lackluster performance in last week's prep race. "When I warmed her up tonight I knew she was back to herself," said Macintosh.
