Woodbine Mohawk Park: Strobe Lite shines in OSS Gold Series
Strobe Lite, coming off a third-place finish against open company in the Goodtimes Stakes final last Saturday, posted a 1:52 2/5 victory in Sunday night's lone C$140,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series test for 3-year-old male trotters at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
With James MacDonald in the bike, Strobe Lite left from post seven and pressed on two-wide to take the top spot away from Dream For Peace (Mark MacDonald) after the 28 1/5 quarter. Strobe Lite would then allow a brushing Touchedbyanangel (Doug McNair) to take command on the way to the half-mile marker, which was reached in 57 seconds flat.
Nearing the 1:25 3/5 three-quarters, Strobe Lite was guided off the pylons by MacDonald, and after he battled with Touchedbyanangel into the lane, he went by in mid-stretch. From there, Strobe Lite edged clear and went on to defeat Touchedbyanangel by a length and a half, with Dream For Peace third. Mike Me Up (Tyler Borth) and Anibal Duharas (Louis Roy) rounded out the top five.
