Woodbine Mohawk Park: Sixty-eight horses remain eligible for Pepsi North America Cup
Woodbine Entertainment today released the latest update of eligible horses for this year’s C$1 million Pepsi North America Cup. A total of 68 3-year-old pacers remain eligible to Canada’s richest harness race following the April 15 sustaining payment. Award-winners Stag Party and Captain Crunch continue to headline the list of eligible sophomores.
A son of Bettor's Delight, Stag Party turned in his season-debut qualifier Friday morning at Woodbine Mohawk Park, winning in 1:56 3/5 over a sloppy track. The Casie Coleman trainee won six of nine starts and made C$669,489 during his rookie campaign, which included a victory in the C$890,000 Metro Pace.
Nancy Johansson trainee Captain Crunch is entered to qualify for the second-time this season on Saturday morning at The Meadowlands. The son of Captaintreacherous won a qualifier on April 20 in a stunning 1:50 1/5, pacing a 25 2/5 final quarter. Captain Crunch won six of 10 starts and made C$628,642 during his 2-year-old season, which included victories in the Breeders Crown and Governor’s Cup.
The third and final sustaining payment for the Pepsi North America Cup is due May 15. The C$1 million Pepsi North America Cup is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 15. Eliminations will take place a week prior on Saturday, June 8. Woodbine Entertainment will be releasing more event details for this year’s Pepsi North America Cup at the start of next week.
