(4) BIT OF LUCK drops and a big speed try is likely here; top call. (6) MACH CODE also faces easier and he gets his nose on the gate this time. I'll use him in this Pick 5. (5) CINNABAR DRAGON should get away in the first flight and sit a trip to take a share. Veteran hard-hitter (7) MACHAL JORDAN returns for his typical winter campaign but he will likely need one to stretch his legs. Tab him for next week.
Race 2- NW $10,000 L5 or $22,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $30,000
(8) HIGHLAND TOP HILL faces way easier here and Jamieson is sure to put her into action early in a spot where she could go to the front and dominate. (3) SHES GOT PIZAZZ won last time she raced in this class and she is worth a price look here. (7) SUPERLATIVE was hammered at the windows last time but blew up at the start. She can hit the board here if she behaves.
Race 3 - NW $3,750 L5 or $7,000 L10
By missing a check last week, (7) BRODYS SCRAPPER gets to drop to a spot where he should win. (2) EUCHRED raced okay from the second tier last time and he could get a great stalking trip this time to land in the Exacta. (1) ATLANTIS appears to be in a good spot to land a share here; using underneath. (6) OSBORNE SEELSTER may blast early here and if he does, he is likely to hit the board.
Race 4 - NW $3,750 L5 or $7,000 L10 - **GTD $50,000 Pick 4**
(2) PLAY JET RAY was simply too far back last time, now he moves inside several spots and drops again; top call. (3) CROFT BAY N has a similar scenario here and he should get a better start which will help his chances greatly. (4) ALI is worth a look for the Tri and Super making his second start back. (6) A BOY NAMED SUUZZ races well in winter typically and he wouldn't be a big shock here, but he may need one coming off the shelf. The tote may provide some clues with him.
Race 5 - NW $16,000 L5 or $34,000 L10 or NW $120,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $45,000
Tough race with several in with a shot: (6) ROCKIN IN HEAVEN was flying late last time and dropping and drawing well here he gets a slight nod. (7) CHEAPSKATE HANOVER has been one of the sharpest horses on the grounds for several weeks and he is hard to leave out right now. (9) TRACEUR HANOVER is an obvious good fit but post 9 is so tough now; demand a price. (4) NICKLE BAG has been racing well for a while now and he should make it into the Super here.
Race 6 - 5YO and Younger NW3 or $61,000 LT
(6) THE FIRST STEP was live last week but he was too far back, and he gets a better post here and top call. (8) CLIFFHANGER comes in off a sharp win and his good gate speed can help overcome this post. (2) ARUKIDINME CABBIE is capable of a good late surge on his best day and he can get away a bit better from this post; using underneath. (1) R U TALKIN takes frequent small shares. Use him on the bottom.
Race 7 - NW $11,000 L5 or $22,500 L10 or NW $82,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $30,000 - Pick 4
(7) BETTOR OPS N raced too good to lose last week and he was shaded by a horse that has been very hot lately. He gets his regular driver back here and he should be tough. (4) NOCTURNAL BLUE CHIP moves up, but he gets his nose on the gate again after drawing the second tier in two races in a row. He could be sitting on a big race here. (6) LISBURN should be blasting here, and he can get a good trip at a price; consider for Pick 4 tickets. (8) FIXED IDEA is likely to get over bet here showing Breeders Crown lines. Missing six weeks makes him a bet-against for me.
Race 8 - PREFERRED HANDICAP
(2) B STONEY has been dynamite the past several weeks and he could be up to taking on the best aged horses on the grounds here. (7) EASY LOVER HANOVER is always a threat and post shouldn't pose much of an issue. (4) EAST END was a narrow loser in this class in a very good effort and he should be in the mix again. (6) ELLIS PARK can come on late for a small slice.
Race 9 - NW $8,000 L5 or $16,700 L10
(2) IDEAL JET steps up in class here, but he has been known to string wins together when he reaches peak form; call to repeat. (5) EVENWOOD SONOFAGUN comes off a nice win and he should be right there again. (6) HEZA THRILL N comes off a sharp try and he is the one to fend off late. (3) WALTER MITTY can close for a smaller share in this spot.
Race 10 - Horses Who Raced for a Purse of Less Than $9,000 in One of Last Three Starts
(1) OFFICER JONES was flying late again last week but he was too far back to make an impact. The rail post should help here; top call. (2) DARKEST SECRET raced well vs. tougher last week. he should be a big player here. (6) IMSPORTY is capable vs. these on his best day and he could offer some value; using. (10) SHADOW ME THEMONEY can get a good trip here and take a share. (7) SMOOTH MARA N can also come on late vs. these and get a check.
