Race 1 – 4YO and Younger NW2 or $25,000 LT - **GTD $50,000 Pick 5**
Interesting kickoff to the Pick 5 with a few options, but I’ll side with (3) BIG MACHIN JIM who was flying late in a fast race and who should get better position early here. (4) WARRAWEE VITAL looked good for a two-year-old debuting vs. older horses and he was bet heavily as he might be here, too. He is hard to leave off Pick 5 tickets. (2) SIDE HILL GOUGER dropped, popped and took a new life’s mark and he should be in the hunt for at least a share here. (8) J M MANDAMIN should be passing some horses late and he can land in the Super at a price.
Race 2- PREFERRED HANDICAP
(6) EASY LOVER HANOVER has had a couple of weeks off, but he is King of this class and is hard to beat in a short field with his wicked late kick; top call. (4) NIRVANA SEELSTER paced a big mile last week and he seems to excel in winter conditions; using. (5) KENDALL SEELSTER is in the mix despite facing males and she should be good for at least a share. (1) NICKLE BAG is racing tough each week and despite jumping up in class, he could be in the Super here.
Race 3 – NW $6,000 L5 or $13,500 L10 AE: OPT CLM $20,000
(7) KADABRA QUEEN fits well here returning from New Jersey and she should get an aggressive steer from Drury; top call. (2) ZEUS LIGHTNING is in good form now and he had no answer for a 1 to 5 favorite last time, but he is in with a decent shot here racing near the front. (8) JUMPSHOT stayed in and it didn’t work out last week. Give him a look for the Pick 5. (5) WHITE TIGER is having a decent season and his good speed puts him in the hunt for a share here.
Race 4 – NW $16,000 L5 or $32,500 L9 or NW $110,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $35,000 – **GTD $50,000 Pick 4**
(10) SYLPH HANOVER has been lights out since changing ownership and shipping north and a fourpeat looms here for her. (3) BETTER BE DONNA N won in a similar class recently and she should appreciate the class drop here; using. (1) COUSIN MARY is also capable at this level and she is worth a look for multi-race tickets starting from the inside. (5) INVERSE HANOVER rode a bias to a win last weekend. I prefer to use her on the bottom here.
Race 5 – 5YO and Younger NW3 or $60,000 LT
(10) THRILLING TIMES raced very well in defeat last week and he should get a better trip here, finding some cover along the way; top call. (2) POGEY BEACH is on a roll and Macdonald moved him at the perfect time last week when (3) GOOD AND SWEET was coming. Both geldings are in with a decent chance in a race that could come down to trip. (9) TRAGICALLY ZIP looks ready for a good try but drawing poorly he is best used on the bottom.
Race 6 - HORSES WHO HAVE RACED FOR A PURSE LESS THAN $9,000 IN 6 ONE OF LAST 3 STARTS.
(1) ROCK THIS WAY has never been a win machine racing here, but driver Young got him on track at Flamboro and he could get a great setup for his strong late kick here; top call. (6) THORN IN YOUR SIDE is likely to get sent on a speed mission by McNair and if the track is favoring the leaders, he could be extra tough. (7) MR DISOMMA is another who brings good form in from Flamboro and he should get good position early; using. (5) LARRYS PETROCK was a good second vs. similar last week but I prefer to use him underneath in this spot.
Race 7 – NW $11,500 L5 or $25,100 L10 or NW 7LT AE: OPT CLM $30,000
(5) CLASSIC PRO takes a big drop here and McClure should have him on the move early. He gets the nod. (3) POINTS NORTH shows some good efforts down south and he goes for trainer Auciello here. He has missed some time, but he fits well if he is sharp enough, (1) ISLANDSPECIALMAJOR looked good in his North American debut and he certainly isn’t out of place vs. these. (6) FOOT SOLDIER likely won’t get bet much here, but he can contend for a share; consider for the exotics.
Race 8 - NW $18,000 L5 or $33,500 L10 or NW $120,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $45,000
(7) PHYSICALLYINCLINED should get sent hard for the front here on the class drop and if he clears, he will be tough. (1) ROCKIN IN HEAVEN uncorked a wicked mile two starts back at a similar level and he should be a big threat here. (10) AMERICAN VIRGIN fits well here and he should be passing some of these to take a slice. (8) POINTOMYGRANSON also drops but he may take back here and come on late to finish on the edges with other speed lined up to his inside.
Race 9 – NW $8,000 L5 or $16,000 L10
(5) DREAMFAIR BJ goes first time for Auciello here in a race where he might offer a decent price; top call. (8) EVENWOOD SONOFAGUN also gets a barn and driver change here and he has already shown he has the speed to win this race. The only possible negative is the vet scratch. (9) A BOY NAMED SUUZZ has come back to the races in great shape and he is worth a look as a Pick 4 price option. (6) HES A SENSATION returned ready and showed some grit beating easier. He’s not out of this.
Race 10 – NW $11,500 last 5 starts
(4) IDEAL JET continues to roll and I’ll stick with him while he’s hot. (2) WESTSLUCKY TERROR should be sitting in the choice’s pocket and he is the main danger. (7) LISBURN is racing well, and he never gets bet. There could be some exotics value here. (1) ROYAL RENEGADE is another who should sit a following trip behind the choice who could threaten late.
Race 11 – NW$3200 last 5 starts - **Mandatory Jackpot Hi 5 Payout**
(5) THE REV was totally blocked when it counted last week, and he had plenty of pace late but no clear lane until it was too late. McNair should be sending here. (1) REGAL SON has to be in the mix on the class drop here and he is the other key horse for this High 5. (11) BIT OF LUCK can and should get a much better trip this time and he can hit the board. (3) CROFT BAY draws well so he should get a spot near the front early; using. (2) SOSSYS KING KONG should sit a nice following trip this time and he could sneak onto the ticket at a price.
