Woodbine Mohawk Park: Raised By Lindy delivers in Elegantimage final

Raised By Lindy and driver Yannick Gingras took charge three-eighths of a mile into the C$350,000 Elegantimage final for 3-year-old trotting fillies at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday night and went on to victory, scoring decisively in 1:52 1/5.
Sent off as the even-money choice, Gingras got away well from post four but allowed outside leavers, Baby Longstocking and then Adare Castle, to exchange the lead through the 27 1/5 opening quarter before moving sharply to take the lead. Second choice Warrawee Xenia and driver Bob McClure followed the winner from the second tier and got a spot to tuck on the opening bend.
Once in control, Gingras allowed the Walner-sired Raised By Lindy to settle with a comfortable 56 2/5 half before Todd McCarthy and Mon Cheval went on the offensive, with Mischevious Rose following second-over loosely and Warrawee Xenia third-over but struggling as the field went a third quarter in 28 1/5.
In the homestretch Gingras called on Raised By Lindy, and the Domenico Cecere-trained filly responded with a 27 3/5 final quarter to hold firmly to her advantage. Adare Castle, with James McDonald, was able to out-duel Mon Cheval for the place spot, with the latter accepting third. Warrawee Xenia had trouble trotting through the final turn and then made a break in early stretch, losing all chance.

"I was looking for Bob (McClure and Warrawee Xenia)," said Gingras. "I guess she made a break."
A homebred of Lindy Farms, Raised By Lindy was a winner for the fourth time in eight starts this year and returned $4 to win.
