Two- and 3-year-olds of both sexes and gaits took to the track in eight C$75,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots Series Championships on Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The lone driver to have multiple victories was J.R. Plante. He won the 3-year-old filly pace with Simply The Best, a daughter of All Bets Off bred by Lynne Bowen, in 1:51 1/5 for trainer Eric Nadeau and owner Aurel Harvey Et Fils Inc. and the sophomore male pace with Time Passer (by Bettor's Delight and bred by Willow Oak Ranch) in 1:49 for trainer Dave Menary and owners Menary Racing Inc., Michael Guerriero, Ryan Morefield and Larry Menary.
Trainer Mark Etsell also sent out a pair of winners. L P Bay (by Trixton and bred by co-owner Terry Devos), who Etsell also co-owns, took the 2-year-old male trot from off-the-pace in 1:56 at odds of 66-1 for driver Mario Baillargeon and co-owner Peter Porter, and 3-year-old Resolve gelding Nickel And Dime (bred by Bax Stable and Marshall Bax), angled out of the pocket before three-quarters and came out on top in 1:53 for driver Travis Henry and owners Frank Lamacchia, Tony Miceli, Deanmar Sons Stable and Gennarino Lamacchia.

Blue Jean Gal gave Trixton another champion when she won the 2-year-old filly trot from first-up in 1:55 3/5. J.B. Renaud was in the bike behind the Julie Walker-trained homebred for Leonard Gamble.
No Better Air overcame interference before the half and rallied to a 1:53 decision for driver Trevor Henry and co-owner/trainer Scott McEneny in the 2-year-old filly pace. By Cattlewash, No Better Air was bred by Glencairn Racing Stable Inc. and is co-owned by Andrea Lea Racingstables Inc., and Aristi Varsakis.
Foxy Amee took command going to the 57 1/5 half and cruised to a three length victory in 1:55 1/5 in the 3-year-old filly trot. James MacDonald steered the Paul MacDonell-trained and Highland Thoroughbred Farm-bred daughter of Muscle Mass for owners Chris and Michael Storms.
Odds On Bullfrog gave sire Bulldog Hanover a victory in the rookie male pace as he got to the top past the 26 1/5 quarter and was able to hold sway to prevail by half a length in 1:51 4/5 for driver Bob McClure, trainer Dr. Ian Moore and owner Odds On Racing. Odds On Nourrir bred Odds On Bullfrog.
