Woodbine Mohawk Park: OSS Gold Series divisions go to Bingo Night, Th Trix R Forkids

Bingo Night and Th Trix R Forkids each recorded lifetime-best victories in winning their respective C$90,000 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold Series divisions on Saturday (June 20) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

In the first division (race four), favored Bingo Night won her 2026 OSS debut in convincing fashion, posting a four length victory over second choice Blue Jean Gal in a lifetime-best 1:52 1/5 mile that was just one-fifth of a second off the all-time OSS record for her age, gender and gait.

Tyler Jones eased Bingo Night into third off the gate from post six in the eight-horse field as HP Crystaline led the fillies through a 26 4/5 opening quarter. Jones began making his move as the field came out of the first turn, and Bingo Night was on top before the 56 2/5 half. She cruised from there through the three-quarters in 1:24 4/5 and came home in 27 2/5 to seal the victory, increase her lifetime bankroll to C$470,669 and improve her record to 6-3-3 in 15 starts.

Lo And Behold (Louis-Phillipe Roy) was third, M E Laurel (Mark MacDonald) was fourth and Barbara May (Doug McNair) grabbed the final check. Bingo Night paid $3.80 to win.

Jones drove Bingo Night to victory for his father - trainer, co-owner and co-breeder Dustin Jones, who shares the breeding credit on the filly with co-owner Herbert Horses Inc. Bingo Night, a daughter of Green Manalishi S out of Cant Stop Tammi is also owned by Sjoeblom Racing Inc.

In the winner's circle, Tyler told Woodbine broadcaster John Rallis that Bingo Night was eased into her 3-year-old year after a long 2-year-old campaign in which she had a record of 5-3-3 in 12 starts, winning two Gold legs and the C$300,000 Super Final.

"The original plan for the year was to start her off slowly because she had such a big year last year, raced until November, raced in the Breeders Crown, when, if it wasn't at Mohawk, we probably would have never done it," Tyler said. "So, we gave her a little extra time, and then my dad, credit to him and credit to the owners, stuck by his game plan. He wanted three qualifiers and gave her three nice, easy qualifiers, and two good starts in the overnights. And last week I thought she was going to race a lot better than that, but she kind of got interfered with just a little bit at top of the lane. She didn't get a check, but I knew she raced better than the week before, so I knew she was ready to go tonight."

Tyler added that the trotter has a jam-packed stakes schedule from this point forward.

Prior to Saturday, in her only other 2026 pari-mutuel starts, Bingo Night was seventh and fifth, respectively, in a pair of overnights at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

As for Blue Jean Gal and HP Crystaline, they each won C$90,000 OSS Gold Series events on May 24 at Woodbine Mohawk Park with Bingo Night absent. Blue Jean Gal also won the C$75,000 OSS Grassroots final at 2.

In the second Gold division on Saturday, 2-1 second choice Th Trix R Forkids was sent to the front out of post nine by driver James MacDonald, led the field through fractions of 27 3/5, 57 and 1:25 2/5 and held of 4-5 favorite Flowing Tribute (Bob McClure) by 1 1/4 lengths in a career-best 1:53.

Cher Hill (Doug McNair) was third, Social Wizard (Tyler Borth) finished fourth and Satu Wania (Trevor Henry) was sixth-placed-fifth when Ronda May K made a break in deep stretch.

It was MacDonald's first time driving Th Trix R Forkids, who is trained by Murray Brethour.

"[Th Trix R Forkids] is just a gem to drive," MacDonald told Rallis. "I kind of got that vibe racing against her. Murray texted me and said she was beautiful and then [her previous driver] Doug [McNair] said the same thing, that she is a Cadillac to drive. They couldn't be more right."

The victory improved Th Trix R Forkids to 5-1-1 in 10 career starts and pushed her bankroll over C$100,000 to exactly C$129,723 for owner, co-breeder Glenn Bechtel of Stanhope, PEI, who shares the breeding credit on the daughter of Muscle Mass out of One Trix Pony with Tara Hills Stud of Port Perry, ON.

Th Trix R Forkids was third in her OSS debut on May 24 at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Lightly-raced at 2, Th Trix R Forkids won two of her five starts, including the $45,400 final of the Harvest Series in November.
