Monalishi and You Got It Kemp turned in lifetime-best efforts in winning the pair of C$150,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Mid-Season finals for 2-year-old trotters on Monday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
In the event for the fillies, Monalishi (Jody Jamieson) was fifth at the 27 2/5 quarter and 57 second half, but Jamieson had her out and moving before that latter marker, and she moved up with authority on the final bend to take the lead on the outside from Foxy Amee (Paul MacDonell) coming to the 1:25 3/5 three-quarters. From there, Monalishi managed to sustain her bid through the stretch and to the wire, defeating a game Foxy Amee by a length and a quarter in 1:54 2/5. Medley Seelster (Bob McClure) checked in third.
"She's very willing. She wants to do it," said Jamieson. "It was just a matter of having her ready to do her work, and I did. I got her scored down a little bit, and she was just waiting on me to call on her. I had to call on her pretty good. I raced her pretty tough tonight and she responded. I was pretty proud of her."
Bred by Shmuel Farhi, Monalishi went for $28,000 at the 2023 Standardbred Horse Sale. Co-owned by trainer Blake MacIntosh with Tim Klemencic, the daughter of first-crop sire Green Manalishi has three wins in four outings, has banked C$170,000 and paid $4.90 to win as the favorite.

You Got It Kemp (Sylvain Filion) rallied off a second-over trip in the lane, and thanks to a 27 2/5 final quarter, he was able to get up for the victory by half a length in 1:55 1/5. Galen Erso (Doug McNair), who took command past the 28 1/5 quarter and kept it through middle-half panels of 58 1/5 and 1:27 1/5, was the runner-up and Chicago Hall (James MacDonald) was third after he swung to the outside from the pocket in the lane.
"It was the first time that he went a fast mile like this tonight. When I tipped him, he went forward, but I didn't know if I had enough track to get there. Obviously he did, so I was real pleased with him," offered Filion. "I think he raced super tonight."
A Muscle Mass gelding, You Got It Kemp is co-owned by trainer Dan Lagace in partnership with Brady and Brooke Lagace and Suojalampi Stable Inc. Suojalampi Stable Inc. also bred You Got It Kemp, who has a summary of 2-1-0 from three outings and earnings of C$110,667, with Kemppi Stables Oy Inc. You Got It Kemp was a 7-1 offering and returned $17.80 to win.
