Spot Plays – 9 – 39 / $43.80 (- $34.20)
Best Bet – B YOYO – (10TH)
Spot Play – SOUTHWIND BAYOU – (4TH)
Pick 5 – 2,7,8,9/1,3,5,8/6,7/3,4,6/3,8 = $38.40
Early Pick 4 – 3,4,6/3,8/5,7/4,8,9 = $36
Late Pick 4 – 4,8,9/1,4,5/6,7/6 = $18
Race 1 – NW $6,500 l5 OR $14,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $20,000 – **$50K GTD Pick 5**
(2) VERO AMORE BI is in great form for trainer Gallucci and he should fit well here; top call. (7) ALEXUS EH was 4th-over behind dead cover last week which was mission impossible. She could surprise here with a better trip. (8) VEYRON is stuck on one win this year still, but this isn’t the toughest spot and I’ll use him in this Pick 5. (9) MAJESTIC BRAYDEN was second in this class two starts back and then in against Hambletonian-bound Forbidden Trade last time. He isn’t without a chance here.
Race 2 – 4YO and Younger NW 2 (F&M3) or $20,000 (F&M $25,000) LT
This race looks wide-open to me. I’ll give (1) MACALLAN a slight nod thinking he can latch onto some cover this time. (8) SAMS ARSENAL could get hammered at the windows here dropping out of Golds and while she’s in with a chance, she is far from a lock. (3) WINGS OF SPEED raced well at this class two back; another in with a shot here. (5) CORNERSTONE races better when up front and if she gets sent here, she could take these a long way.
Race 3 – Dream Maker 1st Leg – Two Year Olds
The two Captains, (6) CAPTAIN NEMO and (7) CAPT MIDNIGHT both looked well-prepped for Team Alagna and both will likely show much quicker speed leaving the gate here. Slight nod to the former who has finished ahead of the latter in both starts. (1) DAY DELIGHT was a predictable winner when dropped out of the Golds last week, but he’ll need more speed here to handle both top choices. (2) UNIQUE BEACH had a promising opener and he should take a slice here.
Race 4 – Ontario Sired 2YO Fillies NW $5,000 LT – **GTD $50K Pick 4**
(3) SOUTHWIND BAYOU made up a lot of ground in the stretch last time and she needs only to be positioned a bit better at the start here to be a major player. (4) REGIL ELECTRON paced a big back 1/2 at Kawartha in her debut and she goes for a cagey barn that’s quite capable of popping with one like this second time out. (6) BETALADY had a promising Grassroots debut now she leaves from the best post; using. (7) ANTHEM SEELSTER paced a sub-1:24 final ¾ in her debut. Consider for the exotics.
Race 5 – Ontario Sired 2YO NW $5K LT
(3) JOURNALISTIC raced better last time now he moves in from the worst post. He can take these if he gets put into the race early. (8) REMEMBERING SHORTY likely has a lot more speed to offer than what you see in his two winning qualifiers; using. (5) DISNEYMAN tried to move into the fastest quarter of the race and was thwarted. He can go better here. (10) IRISH PRINCE can sneak onto the Tri or Super at a big price here if he gets sent off the gate for position.
Race 6 – NW $10,000 L5 or $20,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $30,000
(5) HEY LIVVY is all-or-nothing but she seems to do best when Henry drives, so she gets the call to repeat here. (7) SUPERLATIVE closed well vs. two much better rivals last time and she has a decent upset chance here. (2) ALARM DETECTOR is showing the signs of breaking out of his slump. He’s not out of this. (1) HIGHLAND TOP HILL should be in the mix again, but I prefer to use her underneath.
Race 7 – CLM HDCP $15,000 to $18,000 for NW $80,000 LT – Late Pick 4
Any of three that exit claiming handicaps could win this, but I’ll give a slight edge to (8) STELIOS off the Shepherd claim. (4) ZEN DA BALLYKEEL hasn’t missed the exacta since mid-June and he’s hard to leave out at this point. (9) LEADER TONIGHT went down the road vs. many of these but draws much worse here; your call. (6) KNOGOFBROKENHEARTS is more likely to finish underneath but the way he has been racing lately.
Race 8 – Dream Maker 1st Leg 2YO
(4) CHIEF MATE is one of several live Alagna trainees entered in this stake and he will be tough to beat in this spot. (1) TATTOO ARTIST has been ultra-impressive so far and while this is a much stiffer test, he might be up to it. (5) ALLYWAG HANOVER needs more speed here but he might have it; using. (8) CAPTAIN KIRK is one I’ll take a stand against here starting from out there and coming off a tripped-out win.
Race 9 – Preferred Handicap
(7) RUN DIRECTOR is in top form and he looks solid to take another Preferred here. (6) DANCER HALL is also in peak form and this race should be settled by these two down the lane. (3) P L JILL comes off a fast win, but she may find the top ones too tough here. (4) TREASURED TEE can take another slice in this spot.
Race 10 – NW $15,000 L5 or $31,500 L10 AE: OPT CLM $40,000 or NW $120,000 LT
(6) B YOYO kind of sticks out here and he should be able to control this race if he makes front at any point in the opening 1/2. (7) CATCH THE DREAM drops and he will likely get a more aggressive steer. (5) KAMERAN HANOVER raced tough first up last week and he was passed by a sharp rival late. He should be right there again. (1) BIZET and (3) R FIRST CLASS are two to consider for the bottom of Supers and High-5s.
