Race 1
This is one of many wide-open looking dashes on this card. I'll side with the debuting (3) JUSTICE SOCIETY, who seems to find a good spot to kick off her career and her second qualifier was quite good. (7) SAMS ARSENAL comes off a win and moves to the potent Vanderkemp barn for her Mohawk Park debut; using. (8) ANGEL FOR LIFE showed some promise last fall and she finished well in her April 29th qualifier; consider at a price. (4) P L MATT faced some decent ones last fall, and he could jump up here with a better try racing off the shelf.
Race 2
(7) HIGHLAND TOP HILL was picked off very late by a rival that absolutely flew late in the mile. That was a good effort and he should be tough here with a repeat of that mile. (1) WHAT CHAPTER missed the exacta only seven times in 24 starts last year and he looks primed to pick up where he left off. I'm using him in the Pick 5. (5) BATTING STATS was a bit dull last week on a night where the track played to closers. He's capable of a better try. (3) GALLANT MAN steps up but he's in solid form and he can share here.
Race 3
(3) MAGNOLIA SEELSTER raced uncovered into an accelerating late pace and she understandably faded late. She can improve off that effort if she can carve out a better trip; slight nod. (7) LADY MAYA rode the choice's cover and finished a couple of lengths in front of her. This is one of many races that will likely come down to trip on this card. (5) TARRYN A STRIP is sneaky here coming off some qualifiers where she flashed good late speed; consider for exotics. (6) SHESONEHOTWRITER showed promise last year but she also had gait issues. There are mixed signals here, but she is probably capable if she behaves.
Race 4
(3) MONOPOLY was picked off by a closer last Monday on a night when many that came from the back were aided by a stretch tailwind. He'll need to repel that rival again, but he could be up to it under different conditions. (1) FLY BEYOND just missed last time and he is another who should be racing near the front and rates highly here. (5) QUADRANGLE was airborne late and he should be right there again, although he might get over bet off that win. (7) EYES COOL was saved until the stretch last time and he flew by the leaders. These are tougher, and he is unlikely to get the same trip; small share predicted.
Race 5
(5) FOREVER FAV's 26 4/5 kicker sticks out and he goes for a barn that sends them ready; top call. (9) MISSILE SEELSTER is one-for-one and worth a look at what might be a good price shipping north and drawing outside. (3) MACHPAPERSCISSORS passed horses in the fastest quarter of the race, indicating sharpness; using. (8) WINDSUN RICKY shows several shares on his card. He's a good one to use underneath here.
Race 6
(9) MAGICAL WINNER K may be riding a four-race win streak had he stayed flat last time. He can make amends here if he behaves. (4) NORTHERN ROYALE gets major post relief here after producing a decent effort from post 10; using. (1) ALLTHEFIXINS gets a barn change and adds Lasix, plus he was racing in Gold races last year. He should enter the picture. (10) ARVIKA has come around and she would be rated higher if she drew a better post.
Race 7
(2) EMOTICON HANOVER gets her regular driver here and she is probably too good for these if she gets put into the race. (4) WILD AND CRAZY GUY has developed an effective closing style and this race could set up for him. (1) CUE HALL drops from the top class and he merits a close look here. (9) HOCKEY HANOVER figures to add some fuel to what looks like will be a hot early pace. He's sharp though and he should stick around for a slice.
Race 8
(7) PRINCE GIOVANNI had sharp speed both early and late last week to just miss to a tough veteran. He should be a major player. (10) JIMMY BE GOOD goes for Fellows off the claim and post 10 hasn't bothered him much recently. I'll use him in this late Pick 4. (5) LUCKLST BLUEGRASS was just behind the choice last time when making his first start in a new barn. He should be a threat here. (8) LISVINNIE put up solid splits last time before tiring. He's not out of this, but outside draws continue to provide a challenge for him.
Race 9
(7) MAJOR MUSCLE drops here, and Jamieson should roll him early so that he makes front or lands in the pocket. He has a good chance vs. these. (4) MAGIC NIGHT also gets class relief and he is capable of a much better effort than he produced last week; using. (2) WESMONT threw in a bit of a clunker last time. He can rebound and take a share. (9) ADVERSITY will likely be last early, but he can pass many of these and make the Superfecta ticket.
Race 10
(7) KAMERAN HANOVER makes his fourth start off a break and he gets to drop a level here. Expect a more aggressive steer this time. (2) ODDS ON AMETHYST can wake up anytime and dropping plus drawing inside may be just what he needs; beware. (1) SEVERUS HANOVER goes for the top trainer here off the claim, but some of these are much tougher; using underneath. (4) CHARLIE IS A JOKER was decent last time closing late at Flamboro. He isn't out of place here and he can hit the ticket. (6) MUSICAL SPELL regularly takes checks and starting from the best post he makes sense to use on the bottom.
