Late Pick 4 – 4,5/1,3,4/4,5/1,7,8 = $36
Race 1 – NW $11,500 L5 or $24,000 L9 AE: OPT CLM $30,000 - **GTD $75,000 Pick 5**
(6) HEMI SEELSTER hasn't done much since being claimed in late January, but he has been in over his head frequently. This is a better spot and he may go right to the front here and not look back. (3) TREASURED TEE had a useful comeback start and he gets to drop another level now. A better try is likely here. (4) MAJOR MUSCLE couldn't repel a sharp rival last time but that was a good effort and he figures in here. (1) MEADOWBRANCH MEMO will be passing horses late again; using underneath.
Race 2 - 5YO and Younger NW2 (F&M3) or $20,000 (F&M $25,000)
(5) CHARMBO PRINCE was too far out of position last time but drawing better here should mean he leaves quicker to get a good spot from which to launch his late assault; top call. (2) GOLDEN DYNAMITE was second last week to a winner who just got too good of a trip. He is a logical contender here. (9) TLF ROYAL LAKE had a rough trip last time trying to close into the fastest 1/4 of the race. His price is sure to climb here, and he isn't out of the question vs. these. (3) SAVINI is worth a look for the exotics exiting the Pepsi series.
Race 3 – Horses who have raced for a purse less than $9,000 in one of last 4 starts
(6) AVATAR J and (5) AMERICAN WIGGLE, who were 1-2 in this class last week both make the condition again and should fight it out for another win. Slight nod to the former but using both in multi-race tickets. (4) SIN CITY BOOGIE wasn't far back last week, and he should land in the Tri this week. (3) OFFICER JONES should pass many of these in the lane again, consider using on the bottom of Tris and Supers.
Race 4 – 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT – Pick 4
(5) MALCOLM G was 2nd to a big chalk last week and he may never get a better chance to break his maiden than right here. Will the 21st try be the charm? (7) HETTIES MAGIC has also had many chances and he should have a decent chance in this field filled with horses coming off rests or making debuts. (3) ROSE RUN VERSATILE showed enough last year to suggest he can contend here if he gets put into the race. (10) HOYA SAXA figures to come on late for another small share.
Race 5 – F&M CLM HDCP $10,000 to $12,000
(9) LUCKY PLAYER is running hot right now and she goes for one of the best barns racing horses off the claim. Post 9 may not matter. (7) E R RHONDA races best for McNair who knows she must have her move timed a certain way and he returns here as she races off the Shepherd claim; using. (6) MISS ROCKADALI should be close early and hang around for a slice. (1) HAMMERING HALEY could stay glued to the pylons this time and look to make a stretch move; upset chance.
Race 6 – PREFERRED – Pick 5
(1) ODDS ON AMETHYST has recaptured the form that won him an 'O Brien Award for older trotter a couple of years ago. I'll ride him while he's hot. (7) P L JILL similarly is very good right now and she will probably get the jump on the choice again. I'll use her in late multi-race tickets. (4) R FIRST CLASS doesn't win often at this level, but he is sharp right now and he should be in the Tri or Super. (3) BIG RICH should be racing near the front early and he can stick around for another small slice.
Race 7 – NW $11,500 L5 or $24,000 L9 AE: OPT CLM $30,000 - Pick 4
(5) U NEED STONES was sharp and ready for his debut out of the Moreau barn last week and a similar effort can get him another win here. (4) WHITE TIGER raced too well to lose last week but it's hard to hold off a rival who is trotting a sub-27 kicker in February; using. (1) SORTIE races well every second week and breaks in the other starts. Will the pattern continue here? Demand a price. (3) ST JAMES GATE can pass a few of these and take a share.
Race 8 – CLM HDCP $10,000 to $12,000
Trainer Shepherd packs a potent 1-2 punch here with (3) TOMY TERROR and (4) CASIMIR OVERDRIVE both racing off the claim. Slight nod to the former who won last week but notice the latter had his number previous to that race. (1) MISTER GODRO was first up into a brutal wind here on Thursday which was not the place to be. He has an upset chance here in a race where the two choices are likely to take most of the tote action. (2) MYBROTHERGEORGE can close late and round out the Tri or Super.
Race 9 – NW $16,500 L5 or $30,500 L10 or NW $120,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $40,000
(5) HEY LIVVY was much better in her second start back as expected and she has now developed a versatile racing style; call to repeat. (4) PIKACHU HANOVER made several moves in that race which helped soften him up late. He could turn the tables here with a different trip. (3) BUZZ makes his second start back for Auciello and he should improve here but I'll use him on the bottom in this spot. (2) DUNBAR HALL is capable vs. these but he may need a start or two.
Race 10 – NW $3,100 L5 or $7,000 L10
(7) LEVIS DAY faces easier here and he should be tough racing in the lead or out of the pocket. (8) WALTER MITTY also drops, and he is sure to get put into this race early; using. (1) ROCK THIS WAY has raced well for Young in the past and he too gets class relief in this spot. The only concern here is that he is often asked to pass most of the field and that leads to traffic issues. (6) COOL ROCK is worth a look for the Super and High-5 on the barn change. (3) MT STERLING MAFIA can improve at a price making his third start back in this spot.
