Race 1 - 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT - **GTD $50,000 Pick 5**
(8) PROFOUND PARAGON has been coming around and if she is closer at the head of the lane this week, she has been showing enough late speed that she could notch an upset here. (4) HP BRUXELLES will get hammered at the windows showing Gold lines and she is a Pick 5 must-use. (10) HETTIES MAGIC can get a covered trip here and that makes him a threat. (2) BLACK SEVEN should be good for another share in this spot; using underneath.
Race 2- 4YO and Younger NW2 or $25,000 LT
(3) BLU CREW ships in with good form, moves into the top barn, draws well and meets a beatable group; top call. (10) SLIM SHADY was used hard early last week in his first start in 10 months and that should have got the carbon out of his engine. Give him a price look for the Exacta here. (8) WARRAWEE VITAL showed nothing as the 1 to 2 chalk but his debut win shows he is capable; your call. (7) BIG BULLY rode a prevailing closer bias to a maiden-breaking score on Boxing Day. I prefer to use him underneath here.
Race 3 - 5YO and Younger NW 2 (F&M3) or $20,000 (F&M $25,000) LT
(8) STORMONT RARE raced well despite missing four weeks and he is likely to get more aggressive early in this spot; top call. (6) CHICA gets away from the hot Villefranche AS here and she is in with a good chance vs. this group. (2) PC JUSTA DREAM has been right there in four straight starts and he is another that is hard to leave off this Pick 5 ticket. (9) PERISTERA faces tougher here but her price will be good from post 9 and she could sneak into the Tri or Super.
Race 4 - Claiming Handicap $20,000-$25,000 - **GTD $50,000 Pick 4**
(7) CHEAPSKATE HANOVER raced huge last week only to be picked off late by the sharp (6) JULERICA. There's a good chance this race will come down to these two again. (1) YOUNG DRUNK PUNK has been flashing good late speed and he isn't out of this, but post 1 may not be great for him in this spot. (2) LEGAL BETTOR had a long trip last week. He can be closer this time with a more conservative drive.
Race 5 - NW $5,300 L5 or $10,000 L10
(1) OSBORNE SEELSTER was the only gate-to-wire winner on Boxing Day on a track that favored closers, and he cut the fastest opening 1/2 on the card to boot; call to repeat. (10) CINNABAR DRAGON follows the choice off the gate here and he could get a sweet following trip; using. (8) LARRYS PETROCK has been very sharp recently and he is one that should be prominent throughout here. (3) IMSPORTY draws better and he should be in the hunt here for a share.
Race 6 - NW $10,000 L5 or $20,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $30,000
(1) MARQUIS VOLO came ready to play racing off a layoff and he sustained his brush for a long way racing first-over in an impressive effort; call to repeat. (10) KADABRA QUEEN raced well but she was picked off late. She could be even sharper in this second start back at Mohawk Park. (5) MAJOR MUSCLE has been producing some quick final quarters and she draws well here. She is another in with a good shot in a contentious dash. (9) WHITE TIGER looked sharp last week but from post 9 I'll use him underneath.
Race 7 - Claiming Handicap $15,000 to $18,000 for NW $75,000 LT
(8) CANDID CAMERON had sharp speed both early and late when winning last time and he gets the call to repeat off that sharp effort. (3) EASY FLYER went to London to grab a purse during the holiday break and he is sharp and dangerous. (4) ARUKIDINME CABBIE could wake up in a big way dropping in for a tag here; using. (7) CHIK MAGUIRE is always a good one to use on the bottom of the Super it seems.
Race 8 - NW $16,000 L5 or $28,500 L10 or NW $120,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $40,000
(2) MEMO keeps winning and he keeps paying well. I'll stick with him in a race where he should get a solid pace to chase. (9) HEMI SELESTER has no secret strategies. He'll be on the engine for as far as he goes and he may bottom this field out. (4) PERFETTO got back on track vs. easier but he is capable of a good try here. (1) OH SO PINE should sit a nice trip here and come on late for a share.
Race 9 - Claiming Handicap $10,000 to $12,000 - Late Pick 4
(1) CASIMIR OVERDRIVE goes to Moreau here in a race where there isn't much solid recent form; slight nod. (5) MCLEGEND hasn't won in a while but his recent races are decent and he draws better here; using. (10) MOSSIES ART could trip out following the choice here. I'll toss him in this Pick 4. (8) GRITS N GRAVY closes well every race. He should get a piece of this.
Race 10 - 5YO and Younger NW3 or $50,000LT
(9) BETTOR B GOING simply looks fastest in here and if he doesn't get roughed up too much early he should repeat here. (10) MILITARY SECRET was a sharp winner as the big chalk when shipping in and coming off a short break and he really motored late in that race. He's on my late Pick 4 ticket. (3) FRIDAY NIGHT BLUES can pass a few of these late and sneak onto the Tri or Super at a price. (7) GRAND POOBAH is another who should be coming late for a slice; using underneath.
Race 11 – NW $26,500 L5 or $175,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $60,000
(2) ROYAL WITCH is on a roll and she should control things again in this short field. (4) ON THE ROPES continues to race well and he should be an Exacta factor in this race. (3) ODDS ON AMETHYST is sharp but he is likely to close belatedly for a smaller share. (5) B YOYO similarly will likely finish on the edges in this spot; using on the bottom.
Race 12 - NW $3,000 L5 or $7,000 L10
(1) PLAY JET RAY gets needed post relief here and a slight nod in a wide-open finale. (6) BEACH PRO is capable of much better than he showed in his comeback race. Maybe he'll get sent tonight. (10) DREAMY FELLA comes off a solid effort but from this post, but he is more likely to come on late for a smaller slice. (4) ATLANTIS could hit the ticket here with an expected easier trip. (5) OLLIESTRIKESFAME can take a share here off a following trip.
