Lyons Sentinel and Karma Seelster came from opposite ends of the toteboard to win Friday night's Milton Stakes eliminations for pacing mares at Woodbine Mohawk Park. A pair of C$35,000 eliminations were contested Friday to determine the field for next Saturday's C$240,000 final.

Roses Are Red winner Lyons Sentinel took care of business in the first elimination, coming first-up from third on the final turn and powering home in 26 2/5 for a near two lengths score in 1:49. James MacDonald substituted for regular driver Tim Tetrick and guided the Jim King Jr. trainee to her seventh win in 13 starts this season.

Warrawee Ubeaut cut the mile, posting fractions of 27 1/5, 54 4/5, and 1:22 1/5 before fading in the stretch. Peaky Sneaky sat second-over on the back of Lyons Sentinel to rally into a second-place finish, while Keep Rockin A got through for third. The final two qualifiers from the first elimination were Lit De Rose and Marloe Hanover.

Lyons Sentinel is now five-for-six lifetime at Mohawk Park. The 4-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous increased her career numbers to 19 wins and over C$1.8 million in earnings for owners Threelyonsracing. A $2 win ticket on Lyons Sentinel returned $2.80.

Unlike the first elimination, Karma Seelster lit up the toteboard with a 35-1 upset victory.

Driven by Doug McNair, Karma Seelster got away sixth in the field of seven and would sit third-over as the field raced down to three-quarters. A wild finish played out in the lane, with Rocknificent attempting to fight off various rivals, but it was Karma Seelster on the extreme outside muscling by all to win by a neck in 1:49 2/5.

The Gregg McNair-trained 4-year-old picked up her second win in 12 starts this season and ninth overall. The victory boosts her career earnings to C$651,596 for owners Eileen Waples, Karen Hauver, and Shady Hill Racing Stable.

Rocknificent, who made a big second quarter move to the top from fourth, posted snappy fractions of 54 3/5 and 1:22 1/5. The race favorite battled tough to hold second, while So Much More got a second-over tow and finished third.

A $2 win ticket on Karma Seelster returned $73.40.
