Woodbine Mohawk Park: Met's Hall cruises in Simcoe, Canadian Trotting Classic up next

Met's Hall backed up his recent win in the Zweig at Vernon with an impressive 1:52 score in the C$169,183 Simcoe for sophomore trotting males on Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Starting from post seven in the field of ten, Met's Hall showed speed for Andy Miller and carved out an opening quarter in 27 2/5. Alarm Detector (Trevor Henry) moved up on the outside to take the lead past that marker, though, and then Lawmaker (Anthony MacDonald) overtook Alarm Detector, putting Met's Hall in the three-hole passing the 55 3/5 half.
Lawmaker would go on to reach three-quarters in 1:24 1/5, but Alarm Detector pulled back to the outside at that point, with Met's Hall following that move before sliding out three-wide at the top of the lane. Met's Hall would regain the lead with about an eighth of a mile to go, and then he pulled steadily away, winning by 3 3/4 lengths. Run Director (Sylvain Filion), who got away last, closed well to finish second, and Missle Hill (David Miller) came on to finish third.
"I wasn't sure how it would unfold, but I knew I'd be going forward off the gate and sitting up close," Andy Miller said. "Then Anthony re-moved with Lawmaker and I got away third. When I got room in the lane there, he shot home. He likes to be up close, and usually when he comes off the last turn he's going to trot home a lot.
"Ever since the Hambo he's kind of really showed up and done what we thought he could do. He stays here for the Canadian Trotting Classic."
Julie Miller trains Met's Hall, a Cantab Hall colt, for owners Stroy Inc. and Andy Miller Stable Inc. This was Met's Hall's eighth career win, and he has now earned C$808,499. The even-money favorite, Met's Hall paid $4.30 to win.
