Woodbine Mohawk Park: M-M's Dream delivers in Miss Versatility
?q=100)
M-M's Dream, making her first start outside Indiana this year, chased down pace-setter Call Me Goo in the last stride to win Saturday night's lone C$53,200 Miss Versatility Series event for trotting mares at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Call Me Goo (Tim Tetrick), who won the opening round at the Meadowlands on May 4, put up fractions of 27 1/5, 56 2/5 and 1:24 after getting to the lead in the early stages from post seven. Meanwhile, M-M's Dream bided her time in third with driver David Miller until midway through the far turn when Miller tipped her to the outside. Behind Call Me Goo, pocket-sitter Helpoftheseason (Yannick Gingras) broke stride briefly nearing three-quarters, then went off-stride for good in the lane.
For much of the stretch drive it looked like Call Me Goo was on her way to another win, but M-M's Dream kept coming to her outside and had it measured off at the finish line for the victory by a head in 1:51 3/5. Warrawee Xenia (Bob McClure) was the third-place finisher, followed by Tactical Mounds (Scott Zeron) and HP Mama B (Louis-Philippe Roy).

"I wasn't for sure (if I was going to get there). I was telling Timmy after the race, 'I thought I would get to you a lot easier, a lot quicker,' but he called on his mare and she opened up on us," Miller said after the race. "My mare, you can't ever give up on her. She just keeps digging right until she gets to the wire.
"I think she's filled out and obviously she's still got her guts and her speed. She's a real pleasure to work with."
A 5-year-old Swan For All mare bred by Mervin Miller, M-M's Dream is trained by Ron Burke for owners Eleven Star Stables, Frank Baldachino and Hillside Stables. She has a record of 28-4-4 from 39 efforts, has banked C$1,495,892 and paid $2.60 to win as the 1-5 favorite.
