Woodbine Mohawk Park: Lachance injured in accident

Trainer-driver Pat Lachance suffered a fractured leg in an accident that occurred during the first of two Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series races for sophomore pacing colts and geldings on Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Lachance, driving Dali gelding Ali, had been trailing the field and was trying to set up a rally in the lane. Unfortunately, Ali grabbed a shoe and fell, with Lachance then being ejected from the race bike.
According to Woodbine Mohawk Park's Mark McKelvie, Lachance was transported by ambulance to Milton District Hospital, where he will have to undergo surgery.
As for the stakes events themselves, they were won by Backstreet Shadow in 1:49 2/5 for driver Yannick Gingras and trainer Richard Moreau and The Downtown Bus in 1:49 3/5 for driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Jeff Gillis.
