Woodbine Mohawk Park: Just Daisy upsets in Harvest Series final
The $50,200 final of the Harvest Series for Ontario-sired 3-year-old pacing fillies was the featured event on Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and 25-1 shot Just Daisy got the job done in front-stepping fashion.
Driven by Chris Christoforou, Just Daisy went to the lead from post seven and carved out fractions of 28, 57 1/5, and 1:25 4/5. In the lane, race favorite Bet On Becky (James MacDonald), who moved up into second from first-over on the final turn, had dead-aim at the pace-setter, but Just Daisy wouldn't let her go by, holding firm by three-quarters of a length in 1:53 1/5. Awesome Hill (Doug McNair) rallied from eighth to third in the last quarter.
