Woodbine Mohawk Park: Horses to watch from September 20 - September 25

Ken Walters|Sep 27, 2018

Thursday, September 20

SPORTS LEGEND (NW2) was parked with cover, lost the cover, came to the odds on pacesetting winner, challenged, battled to the end but came up a neck short.

UNPRECEDENTED (NW15000) waa parked the mile, challenged to the lane, wore down the leader but was outkicked by the tripped-out second-over favorite.

FREE EXCHANGE (GRASSROOTS) filly was moving fast and smooth through the lane coming from a distant 3rd over and should be a force in her final.

COUSIN PETER (GRASSROOTS) beaten favorite sat in to the lane, tipped with a strong finish and the beaten favorite will be tough in his final.

Friday, September 21)

BUTTERMILK HANOVER (NW11000FM) sat to the lane, angled out and finished well at nearly 10-1.

STREAMSONG (NW3000) tipped heading home and closed well at 21-1 but had much too far to come.

HOPE AND FAITH (NW3100FM) pulled to the half, challenged, took a lead into the lane but got nipped on the wire. Same kind of win can get her in the winner's circle.

HOPES SOLO (GRASSROOTS) was parked to a tuck, came uncovered the last quarter, had aim but the tripped-out winner was too much.

Saturday, September 22

MCKINNEY (NW7500) was parked to the lead, battled a relentless parked the mile foe, dug in gamely while tiring and got nailed at the wire.

BEACH HOUSE (NW16000) trailed, rallied late and clicked off a fast last quarter.

NOCTURNAL BLUECHIP (NW22500) yielded and was shuffled, tipped heading home and won going away looking like he can do it again.

TWENTY THREE RED (NW7400FM) took the lead, yielded for the pocket, had traffic in the lane and flattened out before finding late room.

Monday, September 24

ADINA (2YOF) left, took the top, yielded, sat pocket and had road problems through the lane.

MCDAVE (CD) left for position, got shuffled, brushed to the top, yielded to the winner's brush, battled back and came close at the wire. Beaten favorite should atone in quick order.

P L IDAHO (NW5000) took the top past the quarter, yielded, sat pocket, rallied gamely at 10-1 but could not get there as the odds-on favorite earned the decision.

CAPITANO ITALIANO (NW1/2YO) won decisively in down the road effort and can take another or two.

Tuesday, September 25

TOUCHDOWN AS (NW7000) brushed and crushed in impressive romp.

BRICKMAN (CLMHCP12/15000) followed wide from far back and closed gamely but it was too much to ask this time.

FREE WILLY HANOVER (NW19000) tucked two times along the way to be second best to impressive winner.

NOW WHAT HAPPENED (CLMHCP18/25000) was a game second best to the winning pacesetting favorite.
