Woodbine Mohawk Park: Horses to watch from Sept. 2 - Sept. 7
Thursday, September 2
FRONTIER CRUISE (CLM17500) was buried to the lane, wiggled here and there bumping through traffic but had too much to overcome. Beaten lukewarm favorite should have a better trip in next.
VICTORY MOVE (CLM17500) was out to the lead, yielded, slipped out in crowded stretch looking for a lane but was wiped out in close quarters by horse running in.
ALL CHEDDAR (CLM17500) got away to the rear in early cavalry charge, wheeled wide, had to jerk wider to avoid a catastrophe but finished full of pace.
SAM MCKEE HANOVER (CLM17500) rushed to the top, yielded for the pocket but had traffic problems when it mattered in a very crowded stretch.
GAMBLING PRINCE (CLM17500) was off at 50-1 but was navigated deftly through the stretch mess in same race and bears watching.
Friday, September 3
TOWN DELINQUENT (NW5FM) was quick to the top, yielded and was shuffled back as at least 6 different horses got the lead, slipped out third over and closed gamely to earn a long look in next.
SOMEWHERE NORTH (NW5FM) was the second leader in the above race and shuffled out, rallied through stretch traffic in game effort while putting up best opening panel and best closing panel.
CYCLONE SISTER (NW5FM) was parked far to the top in the above race, grabbed the top, yielded and was shuffled back, rallied late with good pace and also deserves a long look in next adventure.
NICE KITTY HANOVER (NW5FM) got away slowly from the rail and was forced to make a huge rally to make the top, went down the road and tired. Maybe an easier trip gets it done.
Saturday, September 4
ROCKNIFICENT (ROSES/RED) went to the top as the second choice only to be nailed by the late-closing second-over odds-on favorite and should nail a win or two soon.
SO MUCH MORE (ROSES/RED) left, tucked, sat buried to the lane, angled out, found room and closed late.
COLIGNYY HANOVER (OntSS) left, tucked, got shuffled, closed well but late inside at over 40-1 and earns a look in next.
BOB LOBLAW (OntSS) left to the top, yielded and was shuffled, got stuck in traffic looking for room and cleared much too late to launch a bid.
Monday, September 6
CENTURY HANNIBAL (NW2) was parked to the lead, yielded for the pocket, got in tight through the lane, had to angle out when the rail stayed closed, finished gamely and could get luckier in next.
WARRAWEE ROO (PRF) tucked early, pulled and was stung moving to the lead, met the favorite's uncovered challenge and was a handy winner.
HALLSGLENSMAVIS (CLMHCP13/18000FM) tucked early, pulled early but was far back in the outer flow, put in a strong last panel and was second best in the photo.
MAJOR CUSTARD (NW6100) left well, took the top, yielded, sat pocket and was in traffic in the lane and did not get the chance to fire his best shot.
Tuesday, September 7
YARIS SEELSER (CLMHCP22/30000) rallied from second over to nail it late. Winning favorite was claimed and will give it his best again in next.
RACING FORTHE MARK (NW2FM) yielded, retook and drew as much the best for 5th straight win.
EXCLUSIVE ROSETTE (NW1) went down the sloppy road at 17-1, faced a challenge the last quarter and tired. Might get a better trip in next.
THE BOSS SAID (NW7000/2YO) was third over with strong finish chasing the pacesetting favorite home getting up for second on a rainy Tuesday night.
