Woodbine Mohawk Park: Horses to watch from May 30 - June 4
?q=100)
Thursday, May 30
RHYTHM OF LIFE (OntSS) tipped late in the final turn second over and closed strong to just miss in last.
CATCHMEONTHEBEACH (CLM20000) was in the pocket and there was no room at the 'in' or the 'out' in last. Cleared too late or the photo might have been reversed.
BAYLOR BOBBY (CLM20000) finished very wide, very late and very fast at over 50-1 in latest and should be considered a strong possibility in next.
EVOLVING (OntSS) was in the pocket through the lane. It was a very tight spot and she never had a chance to fire her best shot.
SCINTILLATING TOM (NW1) had poor cover as the field chased the open-length leader, closed well and nearly nailed the tiring leader/winner.
Friday, May 31
ANGOST HANOVER (NW16575FM) sat last, rallied late and fast passing numerous foes and earns a long look in next race or two.
HOW MUCH (NW15000FM) she won by How Much? Romped home by over 10 as the even-money favorite. Granted there was traffic problems behind her but the problems were far behind her.
SHERMONT (W2-4) tucked early, tipped in the final turn second over and just missed.
MAKE OUT WITH ME (NW2FM) was the victim of a totally brutal trip in last but finished wide with strong rally to get up for second.
DELCREST BRENT (NW2890) trotter closed stoutly from 4th over and got up for second at over 50-1.
Saturday, June 1
NUMBER CRUNCHER (NW2) well-bet second choice rushed by the odds-on favorite and left the field in the dust in last romp.
LEGENDARY HANOVER (SOMEBEACH) beaten favorite was bet off the board in last but closed too late from second over.
COACH STEFANOS (GRADUATE) finished full of pace from second over to poor cover and bears watching.
SAULSBROOK VICTOR (PRF) wired the field in solid front stepping score and should be the one to beat again.
SAULSBROOK IN (W2-5) got away slowly, raced 5th over into the lane and passed a slew of foes. Should be tighter as the days progress.
Monday, June 3
BEYOND BETTER (NW9750) grinded a long way on the rim, went wide into the stretch as a horse pulled, rallied all out and was a game-effort second best at 14-1 to the pacesetting favorite.
RILKOFF (NW1750) had cover but cover folded, had to go wide in the final turn, continued in good finish but could not get there. A better trip could be enough.
P L OZZY (NW9750) tucked, got shuffled, brushed ad was a handy winner in last.
BUCK DANCER (COND) wired the field easily and can take another.
Tuesday, June 4
JJ TOMMY (CLMHCP19/24000) was a speedy down the road winner in latest. Got claimed and should come out firing for new connections.
BATTLE WITH DESIRE (POPUP) veteran mare took the top, yielded at the third call to the odds-on favorite, rallied strong and won gong away in good time. Got claimed and would be no surprise.
SOUTHERN FLIGHT (POPUP) finished with good pace to get up for 2nd. Beaten favorite was claimed and may atone in first for new barn.
DELIGHTFUL MAGIC (POPUP) took a brief tuck but pulled right out, challenged uncovered to the last step, wore down the favorite but was nailed by the late-closing longshot winner.
ORDER ONE TO GO (CLMHCP30/40000) closed to win going away from second over and should be one to fear in next.
