Woodbine Mohawk Park: Horses to watch from May 29 - June 1
?q=100)
Friday, May 29
TAMARA HANOVER (NW1700FM) was disappointing two back, got claimed and showed good improvement. Got reclaimed and one has to think there is a win or two on the horizon.
MADAM X (NW6000FM) showed major improvement in latest coming off a claim. She battled the last three-eighths and was a nose short of upsetting the prohibitive pacesetting favorite and deserves a long look.
HORIZON SEELSTER (NW12000FM) was bet off the board. Buried her foes in very fast score and takes another.
UNA MOMENTA (NW1FM) avoided trouble, brushed to the lead, put up strong numbers but was nailed in the last steps on a night when speed was taking a beating. Would be no shocker in next.
D A BODACIOUS (NW1) made a bold brush to the lead from the half at 110-1 taking over from the odds-on favorite, gave way to that one but was a good try second best. Better timed move can do it but 100-1 is probably off the board.
KELLINA DIAMOND (NW2500FM) yielded twice, finished steadily but was third to the longshot pacesetter and her late-closing winning stablemate. She will get her turn.
Saturday, May 30
BRANDON BLVD (SOMEBEACH) tucked, brushed and was a handy winner in quick mile.
AQUINAS HANOVER (NW6000) was patiently parked, grinded up steadily, flashed some good late speed 4th over and bears watching.
DRINKIN BUDDY (NW6000) trailed with apparently no interest, rallied late and piqued some interests.
MR MOUTON (GRADUATE) one of three Svanstedt trainees in the race was second choice. The 4YO trotter was parked to the half before gaining the lead, met pressure, held to the lane but weakened. Should be tighter in next and a better trip gets it done.
AYEAYE CAPTAIN DEO (GRADUATE) pacer flew home in :25 1/5 to nail the win impressively in Leg 1 action.
JABBERWOCKY (NW9000) won again and seems to enjoy his photo-ops....
Sunday, May 31
FOREFATHER (CLMHCP12/16000) one of three horses claimed in his last race which was a fast-closing blow the field away romp and will be a winner in next.
PERFETTO (NW9000) was parked a long way to the lead, battled the last three-eighths and tired. Should have an easier trip in next and that should be enough to get it done.
HEAVENS LIL DRAGON (CLM8000FM) second choice on the board, she sat buried to the lane, slipped out between horses, hit stride late and finished full of pace to be second to the longshot pacesetting winner.
PREMIER FIRST STAR (NW1000) was uncovered and rolled by easily. Should be able to step up and get it done.
Monday, June 1
GONE WITH THE WINE (NW1) went down the road to the final turn at 40-1, dug in but was nailed on the wire by the late-closing odds-on favorite.
KNGTSTLKRS GAMES (NW3FM) brushed early and was a handy winner. Should be the one to catch again.
CORONA SEELSTER (NW1) was parked the mile, grinded up, finished steadily to get up for 3rd.
EDWIN HANOVER (NW1) followed the top one's cover and put up a last panel of :26 1/5 to almost catch the favorite.
LOGAN PARK (OPEN) veteran went down the road rating the half, stepped it up to the third panel and was a handy winner.
CLASSIFIED (NW1) yielded to the third call, tipped and rolled home easily much like the board indicated he would as he won by 7 or so.
