Woodbine Mohawk Park: Horses to watch from Jan. 27 - Jan. 31

Ken Walters|Feb 03, 2022

Thursday, January 27

KOUNNIS (CLMHCP12/15000FM) beaten favorite just missed with huge finish and will be tough in next.

BELIEVE IN BRIAN (CLM17500) was a game winner rallying between horses and should make it interesting again.

ANCHOR SO REEL (CLM15000FM) finished wide and strong in latest to nail second.

MAISYS MUSCLES (NW1) went to the lead, yielded and was shuffled back. Had trot in the lane but tons of traffic to navigate through.

Friday, January 28

WILDCAT STAR (NW2FM) tucked early, sat in, tried to find room, rallied gamely but left the course in tight quarters.

LOVEMYROCKINBIRD (CLM17500) sat last to the final turn, rallied stoutly and won going away. Got claimed and should come out ready for next effort.

BETTORBEFLYIN (SNOWSHOE) was flying and did score handily in 2nd leg action.

MY ONLY SUNSHINE (NW5FM) was a three move winner in last and cannot be ignored.

Saturday, January 29

ROYAL RENEGADE (CLMHCP22/30000) left well and was shuffled back, sat to the lane, tipped late and just missed.

BCS ROSE (NW3) yielded twice at 45-1, sat pocket to the odds-on favorite and was easily second best.

DR JOE (NW3) was used to the lead, yielded for the pocket and was a game all-out winner.

BEYOND BETETER (NW11000) odds-on favorite tucked, brushed and won easily. Can take another.

LOU ED ZEPPELIN (NW4) tucked, sat in to the lane, rushed home once clear and just missed.

Monday, January 31

TAKE THE DEAL (POPUP) was a convincing wire-to-wire winner over a tiring track.

OKEANOS (NW9000) trotter had some traffic problems here and there, finished best of all but had far to come.

MISSION THREE (POPUP) was buried inside to the lane, slid out carefully, found room wide with strong finish but too late.

ALL WRAPPED UP (NW18000) tucked at the quarter, pulled and was too far back. Beaten favorite should make it interesting in next.
