Woodbine Mohawk Park: Horses to watch from February 28 - March 4

Ken Walters|Mar 07, 2019

Thursday, February 28

CASIMIR OVERDRIVE (CLMHCP8/10000) beaton favorite missed from second over losing to the pocket sitter and may atone.

ANGRY EYES (NW1) beaten favorite finished well from third over but it was a bit late. Do not ignore in next.

LORIS ROCK STAR (CLM15000) rushed to the top, met pressure most of the way and proved to be a handy winner.

JUST MAYBE THE ONE (NW2) was parked the mile, challenged to the lane and hung around for a check. Should get luckier in next race or two.

Friday. March 1

HEZA BIG DEALER (CLMCHP15/18000) had pace in stretch traffic, found room late and was willing.

ALPHA SEELSTER (NW3000) finished full of trot from way back and earns a long look.

JUST MY SHADOW (NW2FM) was off slowly and had some traffic problems, got in gear into the lane and roared home chasing the winner and proving second best.

LEAVING A LEGACY (CLMHCP8/10000FM) tucked early, pulled with poor cover, came wide, closed gamely but missed.

Saturday, February 2

FLYING ISA N (NW6000) closed wide, strong and late in last.

BIG LIS (NW6000FM) battled hard on the front end and dug in gamely but tired. Beaten favorite should give it another try.

UPTOWN FUNK (CLMHCP18/25000) well bet second choice took a few wraps early stretch but held gamely warding off the favorite's late bid. Could take another with similar effort.

CAULFIELD (NW6000) had some traffic problems in the stretch and would be no surprise with a little racing luck.

Monday, March 4

MERCENARY (MW3500) left to the lead, yielded and was badly shuffled, angled out in the lane, closed well at 70-1 and earns a long look in next race or two.

NEEDLECREST (NW3500) yielded the lead twice, then was shuffled, rallied late and could surprise with a better trip.

BANK SHOT HANOVER (NW3500) raced second over at 26-1 to the winner and dug in gamely.

MCDAVE (NW3500) trailed to the lane, rallied late and wide. Should improved in next.
