MYSTIC WILD ROSE (NW2FM) had weak cover but closed well to be second best in last.

SNOW SHARK (NW6000FM) odds-on favorite closed stoutly to win going away in latest and should be the one to fear in next outing.

SPORTS FAN (NW2) was parked, tucked, sat in, finished full of pace to just miss the winning favorite.

HIGHLANDBEACHLOVER (NW6000) raced uncovered, challenged hard, took a lead early stretch but was nailed by the tripped-out winner.

POINTOMYGRANSON (NW6000) was pressed hard, finally yielded, tired but battled back gamely in the lane. Deserves a look in next.

GRAND POOBAH (NW6000) was used hard and long to grab the lead, faced immediate pressure, dug in gamely while tiring.

Monday, January 2

MR CONTESTANT (NW5000) trotter went down the road but was nailed in last steps. Got claimed and should give it a try for new owner.

PRIVATE SCOTT (CLMHCP15/20000) put in a good wire to wire effort but waa second best to stablemate in latest. Another claimed horse that should come out firing again.

MY LAND (CLMHCP11/14000) was on the front end under pressure a long way at 27-1 in last before tiring. Claimed battler should get a better trip in next.

JIM STRIKESITRICH (CLMHCP11/14000) was a long time wide in game second-best effort.

STAY CLOSE (COND) was in the pocket, freed too late to make a move and bears watching
