Woodbine Mohawk Park: Horses to watch from April 11 - April 15
Thursday, April 11
ONEDARKKNIGHT (NW1) sat to the back, angled into traffic, forced way out and closed with good pace to be second but was taken down.
L WEATHER B (CLM15000) tucked early, pulled to the half, challenged and was a game winner as the lukewarm favorite. Should get another win or two in near future.
SKATER CHICK (NW2FM) had too far to come but closed best of all hitting the timer in a last panel of :26 3/5. Well-bet second choice just missed the favorite and will find the winner's circle soon.
GOODNIGHT IRENE (NW1FM) was parked to the top at 15-1, met pressure the last quarter, dug in but was nailed. Do not overlook.
Friday, April 12
HURRIED ROMANCE (NW6FM) was buried to the lane, weaved through traffic and closed late at 25-1. Can get luckier in next race or two.
PROTECT BLUE CHIP (CLMHCP8/12000FM) sat to the rear, raced third over in a bad flow, followed wide and closed well but it was too much as the winner did not back up. Beaten favorite should not be overlooked.
LEAVING A LEGACY (CLMHCP8/12000FM) closed well coming wide to clear empty cover and bears watching in next race or two.
MANHATTAN AGAIN (NW7000FM) wired the field impressively and looms as a strong candidate to repeat.
Saturday, April 13
HOMEY JOE (NW7500) finished well but late from third over and earns a look in next.
OSIRIS BLUE CHIP (NW6) rallied strong between horses through the lane and nearly got it done.
OUTLAW FIREBALL (NW30000FM) was parked the mile, challenged all the way in game effort and held on for a second place finish.
JUST HER LUCK (NW30000FM) was victim of a brutal trip in last and a touch of luck could get it done.
Monday, April 15
QUADRANGLE (NW5) got off slowly and settled at the rear, rallied with solid trot the last 3/8 and should not be ignored.
MC PAT (NW2) closed with good pace from the back of the pack and just missed.
REIKI (CLMHCP12/15000) left well, took the lead at 11-1, yielded, sat pocket to the favorite, challenged through the lane and was second best.
ADVERSITY (NW7000) trotter challenged the odds-on favorite the last quarter and was second best at 20-1.
