Woodbine Mohawk Park: A Clean Deal prevails in OSS Gold Series

A Clean Deal 7-25-26
New Image Media A Clean Deal registered another win in the OSS Gold Series on Saturday at Woodbine Mohawk Park

A Clean Deal scored her third Gold victory of the year and equalled her career-best mile with a 1:49 3/5 triumph in the lone C$150,000 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Leg 3 division for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday (July 25) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

It was the eighth OSS Gold triumph in A Clean Deal's career, counting last year's C$300,000 Super Finals triumph en route to being voted Canada's top 2-year-old pacing filly of 2025.

Sent off as the 1-5 favorite in the field of six, A Clean Deal (Cattlewash–Ideal Talker) was settled in fourth early by Doug McNair, who was out and moving before the half. The tandem were on top by the 54 4/5 half and held the lead through the 1:23 three-quarter pole before facing a stiff challenge in the stretch from Daya (Bob McClure). A Clean Deal was able to hold off Daya by one length, who was followed to the line, in order, by Cackle Berry (Tyler Jones), Romantic Beauty (Trevor Henry) and Pownal Bay Bobbi (Mark MacDonald).

"She's just so tough," McNair told Woodbine broadcaster Randy Waples in the winner's circle. "As you can see in that race, and a lot of her other races, she kind of lets them get to her, and looks like she's going to get beaten. Then she opens up again down by the wire. She's so tough and so easy to drive."

A Clean Deal paid $2.60 to win. There was no show wagering.

A Clean Deal had previously won two Gold events in her division this year - in 1:52 1/5 on May 23 (the same night Daya won a second division) and in a career-best 1:49 3/5 on June 26 - both at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Trained by Kyle Fellows, A Clean Deal is owned by Yolanda Fellows of Rockwood, ON, Blair Corbeil of Leduc, AB, Windermere Stable LLC. of New York, NY and James Ross of Wingham, ON.

A Clean Deal is now 11-0-2 in 14 career starts and 5-0-1 in seven 2026 starts. She has earned C$280,262 this year and C$734,726 lifetime. The filly was bred by Winbak Farm and was sold for $20,000 U.S. at the 2024 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
