Metro winner Beau Jangles improved his record to nine-for-nine and led a sweep for driver Bob McClure in C$140,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series races on Tuesday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
After landing third from post one, McClure had Beau Jangles off the cones before the 27 1/5 quarter and took the top spot away from Tilthecowscomehome (Jody Jamieson) after that marker. From there, Beau Jangles put up middle-half fractions of 56 seconds and 1:23 3/5 before he sprinted home in 26 4/5 to win by three lengths in 1:50 2/5. No Waitlist (Tyler Borth) got up for second from Tilthecowscomehome.
"The (OSS) Super Final will be ten starts for him, and that's usually my milestone, if you like, for 2-year-olds. They're all different and they handle things different," trainer Dr. Ian Moore said about future plans for Beau Jangles this year. "We'll just see how it goes. It's week-to-week now as we make the decisions.
"In the Metro elim and final, those were definitely tougher races, no doubt about that, and he was stretched right out. A couple of these Golds have been relatively easy for him, appear to be so anyway. That certainly helps and because of those races, I haven't necessarily had to train real hard either, which is also good."
A Cattlewash colt bred by Tara Hills Stud, Beau Jangles is owned by Graham Grace Stables LLC., Kiwi Stables LLC. and Bolton Stables. He has earned C$1,042,125 and paid $2.10 to win.
Earlier on the card, P L Spencer and McClure took the 3-year-old colt and gelding trot in 1:53 1/5. He led early, yielded to sit behind LMC Wagon Wheel (Borth) past the 28 2/5 quarter and then re-moved to the engine past the 57 4/5 half. P L Spencer would go on to reach three-quarters in 1:26 1/5 before he sealed a 1 3/4 length triumph with a 27 second last quarter. LMC Wagon Wheel checked in second and Day (Louis-Philippe Roy) collected third.

"He's way better snapping off a helmet, but he's in such good form right now, I didn't want to take any chances," stated McClure. "He spent half the post parade trying to kick me out of the bike. It's hard to believe he's peaking this time of year. They all start to get a little tired, but they've done a great job managing him and they've allowed me to race him conservatively in between Golds. He's still winning, but he's at his absolute best right now."
Trainer Steve Bossence also co-owns P L Spencer, a gelded son of Resolve, with partners Richard Thompson, Derek Reid and E C S Racing LLC. The Prince Lee Acres-bred has a summary of 10-4-0 from 19 appearances, has pocketed C$387,681 and returned $2.40 to win.
McClure teamed up with Stormont Beautiful to win the 3-year-old filly trot in 1:52 2/5. She lingered back in seventh and sixth through stations of 26, 56 1/5 and 1:24 4/5 and was behind poor cover on the last turn. However, McClure tipped her out, and she trotted a brilliant 26 2/5 final kicker to rally past her rivals and tally by 7 1/2 lengths. Roxie Hart (Mario Baillargeon) was next, followed by Bright Green (Roy).
"She can leave, but I've found when you use her early, she doesn't have as big a kick late," McClure noted. "Her kick, at the end, if you can save her is so substantial that she can overcome really bad spots. Especially given the group she's in with, there's a lot of gate speed, it's just works really in her favor to come from off-the-pace. When I moved her, for a small piece, she can absolutely fly."
A homebred by Resolve for Stormont Meadows, Stormont Beautiful was sent out by Kevin Benn. She has seven wins, six seconds and two thirds from 20 starts, has banked C$262,883 and paid $5.10 to win.
