Woodbine Mohawk Park: Beau Jangles blitzes OSS Gold Series foes

New Image Media Beau Jangles got rave reviews from Bob McClure & Dr. Ian Moore after his victory

Beau Jangles backed up a pair of eye-catching baby races with a 1:50 1/5 win for driver Bob McClure and trainer Dr. Ian Moore in tonight's C$140,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series tilt for 2-year-old male pacers at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

McClure put Beau Jangles in the third spot as No Waitlist (Trevor Henry) cut the quarter in 27 seconds. McClure then tipped out and rolled Beau Jangles to the front before the 56 1/5 half and began to get separation on the others en route to the 1:23 1/5 three-quarters. Things remained the same through the lane and to the wire as Beau Jangles remained clear and won by three lengths over a closing Tilthecowscomehome (Jody Jamieson). Windor (Doug McNair) was third and Borderline Mobby (James MacDonald) fired home in 26 1/5 to get up for fourth.

"When Doc brings them up from Florida, they're very mature and very easy to race. This colt, he's exceptional," McClure remarked. "He leaves the gate, he's perfect-gaited, great mouth. Sit him in the three-hole, move him to the front, melts for you, then you yell at him down the lane and keep his attention. He was waiting for something more to come, he wasn't even done.

"He's got gears that I haven't seen many 2-year-old have. This guy's just an athlete."

Beau Jangles, a Cattlewash colt bred by Tara Hills Stud, is owned by Graham Grace Stables LLC., Jonathan Roberts and Bolton Stables. Beau Jangles won in his debut after he closed in 26 seconds to finish third with Dr. Moore driving in a baby race on June 13 and then a front-end victory with Louis Roy in 1:53 in a second qualifier. He paid $3.10 to win.

"This guy's got real quick turn-on speed, high speed right now," stated Dr. Moore. "I trained him on Thursday and I just asked him one time and it was like he put the gearshift down in high gear and away he went. We're looking forward to racing him again in two weeks. He'll have a little time off and we'll get him ready for that."
