Top Pick Stats: 230/682 (-$240.30) Best Bets: 28/62 ($2.60); Spot Plays: 13/62 (-$35.10) Best Bet: CAPTAIN NATHAN (Race 5) Spot Play: RAYS KREDIT (Race 6) Early Pick-5: 5,7/2,6/6,7/4,9/2   $3.20 Late Pick-5: 5/2,3,4,/4,5,6/2,5,7/7   $5.40 Race 1: NW $1,500 LAST 4 STARTS. AE: N/A $855 P/S IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: OPT. CLM. $12,500. (7) GIVE ME KARETS K has been knocking at the door plenty of times in recent weeks. In two of his last three starts, he has come up short against class dropping rivals. He races off the claim this week; I’ll give him the nod to get over the hump. (5) DOUBLE DIPPIN gets post relief which should allow him to sit a good trip without being used as hard. The 0-for-15 record looms, though. (3) SUSHI BAR gets a drop to this bottom condition after failing to pick up a check from post ten. He gets Jody Jamieson back in the bike and could get a piece. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: CLAIMING HANDICAP $8,000 TO $11,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000. (2) HES SWIFT has looked a step short since his big win in the beginning of August, but has raced well in his last two efforts, and could secure a nice trip tonight. You’ll get a decent price on him. (6) LETS GET PICKLED is the safe pick given how consistent he has been this season, but we have yet to see him string wins together this season. I’ll try to play against him in the top spot. (5) DRAGONS BETTER absolutely crushed his rivals last week at Grand River, but trying to run this group off their feet could prove a bit more challenging. I’ll use him underneath in this short field. Race 3: FILLIES & MARES, CLAIMING HANDICAP $8,000 TO $11,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000. (7) LISAS ALL IN was aggressively handled off the claim and immediately produced a career best win. Last week’s performance was a spark that we have not seen from her. I think she has the ability to repeat tonight. (6) MY ONLY SUNSHINE is 2-for-2 since adding Lasix and looms as the other main threat if put in play, which I would expect from Cullen. It could easily line up 6-7 or 7-6. (4) AK BLACK BADGER has struggled to close out miles at times, but that also comes from having to do the dirty work first over. I could see her saving ground and adding value to exotics. Race 4: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW $15,000 (ON SIRED $19,750) LIFETIME. (4) FULL OF COLORS drew away nicely from his rivals after getting a cheap middle half. He was visually better than last week, and is clearly improving. (9) COLD CREEK PANTERA gets away from the very fast Caviart Seacrest. His win two starts ago was sharp and easily fits here. I would expect him to at least float out for position. (5) CARSONSBUCKNGO comes off a sharp win at the NW1 level after an aggressive steer. He draws well again and should be involved in the early stages. He tends to at least stick around for a piece. Race 5: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (2) CAPTAIN NATHAN was a visually impressive winner in his lone morning prep. He faced a couple of Grassroots horses in that qualifier and handled them with ease. He should definitely step forward in his career debut and is one I’ll side with right away. (3) COMMANDER SAUL continues to race well no matter what trip he gets, and is one who feels close to breaking his maiden. He is hard to leave off multi-race tickets. (8) NOTATTHETABLCARLOS just missed after sitting a good trip in his latest. Leaving from this post position should be no problem. He looms as another contender. Race 6: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $8,000 FOR NW $5,000 LAST 4 STARTS. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. (5) RAYS KREDIT was moving best of anyone in the stretch last week and could take advantage of a group that is ripe for producing cheap speed. (3) OLAF DU LAC gets away from the likes of Lets Get Pickled and Pick A Genre, but his two efforts at Mohawk have not been the best. He could bottom out this field if driven like the best horse in the race, but I’m not willing to side with him at a low price. (8) MAXIMUS BG produced a visually stunning effort to win by near double digits from the second tier last week. In a wide open race, he could be used early and surprise at a price. Race 7: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. AE: 4 YR OLDS NW OF A RACE IN 2025. (3) FIRE CONTROL has made his quirks well known to those who have seen him, but he clearly has the speed to run over this group if he is right. I wouldn’t expect him to be handled too aggressively in the early stages. (2) GANSBAAI likes to race from off the pace and could easily be seen passing rivals late. He faces easier company tonight. (4) LATE FOR COFFEE sat a pocket trip in his second start back and produced a nice sprint to the wire. He could be first to the lead and get a decent piece if he produces another final quarter like he did last week. Race 8: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES: PROSPECT STARTERS. AE: OS 3 YR OLDS NW $4,500 LAST 4 STARTS. (5) GUCCI SEELSTER was a gutsy winner in her first start in the Jodie Cullen barn. She appeared to be passed by a rival on her outside, but dug in and got the win. I’ll give her the nod to repeat. (4) COOK THE BOOKS has some very strong closing kick in her game, but will have to work from off the pace and may run out of time to swoop the field. Although, if the early speed types battle, she could find a way. (6) CATCH MY PASSION had no chance last week after waking up two back. If she is forwardly placed, she could make some noise. Race 9: NW $2,450 LAST 4 STARTS. AE: N/A $700 P/S IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). (5) TANGO SEELSTER moves away from some tough claiming types and finds a group that is searching for wins. He hasn’t been handled aggressively many times this season, but when he has, he produces good efforts. I’ll take a swing at a price. (7) LA SUN CONTROL has been close to putting it all together at this level in the past and is another potential early speed threat. He has 14 wins over the last two seasons. (2) YANKEE CLOUT could get a piece if he sustains his middle move. He tends to work from off the pace, and I think that will be no different tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,150 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (7) LETR SINK SON looks to be more of an off the pace type, and was able to make up significant ground in the back half last week to finish in the money. If he can latch onto a live helmet this week, I could see him going by in the late stages. (2) KAPTAINKRAVE is inching closer to breaking his maiden, and Ratchford is driving him well to get him in position to do so. He can produce another good finish again tonight. (4) ELLINGTON was a solid third two starts ago when racing at Mohawk Park, but has not raced in over a month now. He could be a step short.
