Top Pick Stats: 201/618 (-$243.80) Best Bets: 24/56 (-$6.20); Spot Plays: 10/57 (-$49.10) Best Bet: WAKE ZONE (Race 3) Spot Play: GUCCI SEELSTER (Race 9) Early Pick-5: 1,7/6,7/8/3/6,7   $1.60 Late Pick-5: 4,7/3,7/3/7/1,9   $1.60 Race 1: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,750 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (1) MASS DEPLOYMENT has shown plenty of ability in the late stages of his miles around the Mohawk oval. If he sits close enough, he should be able to loom up and go by. (7) NOTATTHETABLCARLOS has been better in his last two efforts. He could be the one following Mass Deployment if the flow sets up right, and get towed right into a contending spot. (8) EXPLOSIVE LANDING was a very sharp winner in his only morning prep, but has questions following a sick scratch and a break in stride. Curious how aggressively he is driven tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (6) MAIZE AND BLUE got what could be considered a tightener under his belt last week. He got a good trip, sure, but wasn’t going to catch the winner after an almost minute middle half. I think McNair could get aggressive tonight and put up a strong effort. (7) BEAU KNIGHT comes out of that same race as Maize And Blue. He rode the rail for the entire race after floating out, and ended up with no racing room. I would look for him to leave out as well and get a better trip. (1) L P BAY has two sharp tries at the Grassroots level, but has made breaks in two of his last three and now leaves from the rail. I would expect him to be conservatively handled and closing late. Race 3: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 3 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (8) WAKE ZONE produced sharp speed right away and is a horse that can easily improve. Hard to not like his chances against a group that has had many. (4) NOVA BLU’s bridesmaid syndrome is well documented at this point. He has nine second place finishes in 22 career starts. If he was going to win one, though, it would be against this field. (5) CARSONSBUCKNGO has shown more when racing from off the pace in past Mohawk tries. He could sit just behind the likely early speed types and get a piece. Race 4: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (3) BELLE BOUBOU was a sharp winner last week after being aggressively handled. If she minds her manners, she should be tough to beat again. (5) RARE LEGACY gets the coveted leading driver, James Macdonald, in the bike tonight after a tightener from off the pace. She could rebound at a price. (2) MY GHOST needs to get out sooner if she wants to try and finish the best of the rest. The connections know where she stands now at this level. Race 5: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,200 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (6) SOLAR VOLTAGE was a decent third in his second career start. I would expect another forward trip, and improvement with J-Mac hopping in the bike. (7) TRAMONTO has shown sharp kick at the end of his miles and could easily be flipping off cover and passing horses late. (1) TF HIGH VOLTAGE is a horse who likely shouldn’t be left off tickets because of what he has shown for the new barn in recent starts. Cullen could get him in contention with any trip. Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (4) RAUCOUS has come up short in four of his last five starts when let go as the betting favorite, but I think this is his opportunity to sit a perfect trip and go by at a slightly inflated price. (7) STONEBRIDGE MAC has been racing well in recent weeks, and got a perfect trip behind Raucous last week. He could be blasted off again and has the possibility to repeat. (2) HOT COUNTRY held off rivals after moving to the front, but got a very slow middle half and didn’t pull away like he should have. I think he is vulnerable in this spot. Race 7: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES: PROSPECT STARTERS. (3) TYMAL EMERALD was a sharp second in her latest and nearly caught the winner who she got cover behind. She has raced better against Prospect types. (7) ITS NOT MY VAULT went back to off the pace tactics and just held off Tymal Emerald in the final few strides. The style can make both susceptible, but they have enough closing speed to pick off rivals. (5) ANGEL FLY AWAY has posted a couple of good efforts in recent weeks when sitting up close. McClure gets the nod and could be first to the lead. Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (3) BLUE JEAN GAL has been excellent in recent weeks, becoming a dominating force in this Grassroots division. She is the one to beat until proven otherwise. (1) TWIN B SHOWBIZ took a shuffle in her latest but still managed to find room and end up second behind the big favorite. With a cleaner trip, she should be a little more competitive. (2) CANUKEEPASECRET gets some post relief tonight after back-to-back third place finishes. Look for her to show some speed off the car and hold on for a piece. Race 9: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES: PROSPECT STARTERS. (7) GUCCI SEELSTER has been racing well as of late with good gate speed, and now gets a barn change to a stable that is very sharp and challenging for the top spot on the grounds. She could show a little more tonight. (5) COOK THE BOOKS was flying in the late stages and now teams up with J-Mac who does well with off the pace types like her. Your price is gone, but she can definitely win. (6) WICKED CRUIZER just missed as the favorite last week and is another logical early speed threat. She can sit a good trip and be in contention at the wire. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: NW $1,000 LAST 4 STARTS. AE: N/A $880 P/S IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: OPT. CLM. $12,500. (9) EYES OF JUSTICE is looking for a wakeup call, and it could come here at the bottom level. He adds Lasix tonight and should look to take them down the road. (1) GIVE ME KARETS K was a strong second in his latest when racing from off the pace. He flattened out just a touch in the final eighth, but the move to get him into contention was strong. (7) FASTNET ROCK has decent staying power when grinding into contention and could add some value to exotics if he gets a helmet to follow. Race 11: CLAIMING HANDICAP $8,000 TO $11,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000. (6) PICK A GENRE found his top speed when it mattered most and got the job done last week. I would look for him to be more forwardly placed and pull off a repeat win. (1) HES SWIFT has been better since returning to the Polifroni barn. When he is right, he can sustain a first over move for quite a while. I would look for him to challenge for the win. (4) OLAF DU LAC made two moves when adding Lasix last week and faded after all of that pressure. He could sit a nice trip this week with less movement and get a piece.
