Nod goes to the former who has the better overall form. $15K Harrisburg purchase (5) SIX GUN YANKEE debuts for trainer Macinnis, who also makes her debut here. He is a 1/2 to useful Muscle Fashion who did some good work over this track, and he is worth a look for the exotics. (6) E L TITANIC moves into the Baillargeon barn, and he could improve sharply in this spot.

Race 2: 2YO Fillies NW1 or $5,000

(6) MAKE OUT WITH ME got a clean line and finished well now he gets off the rail, draws best and gets Macdonald back; top call. (5) QUIET ASSURANCES paced a decent back half last week and he should be the main threat to the choice here. Debutante (4) LIGHTNING LIZZIE is the fifth foal from her dam and the first four were all winners. This $18K Ontario Select Sale buy is in with a chance on debut. (2) IRELAND SEELSTER tried to close into a 27-flat kicker on debut and she can improve enough to make it into the exotics tonight.

Race 3: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 3: 2 YO PACING FILLIES

(3) PASS LINE broke before the start as the 1 to 5 choices in the Battle of the Belles then made a huge recovery and almost won. She is the clear one to beat here racing back on the big track. (1) BETTOR SISTERS qualified well for this, and she has done little wrong to this point. She can be an Exacta factor tonight. (6) BETTERWITHGLASSES is sharp, and she will likely get positioned near the front early and ride a trip to a top three finish. (9) BLAZING BELLE got a golden front-end trip to score in 1:52-flat in Kentucky. I see her as a fringe player this time.

Race 4: 5YO and younger NW1 or $7,000 LT - Pick 4

(5) HP JONI MONI returns from a failed experiment in Quebec, and he goes back to Baillargeon tonight. I could see him winning this on the lead or racing from the pocket. (9) MADE OF MAGIC is sharp and consistent and Borth will put him into play leaving the gate. He is the other one that I'll use on early multi-race tickets. (6) CACTUSTOTHECLOUDS fits well here but he seems more likely to take a share than a win at this point. (1) GLENFIDICH can pass a few of these to take a small slice.

Race 5: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 3: 2YO PACING FILLIES

Good betting race here. (10) RESILIENCE was 1 to 5 last time now you might get 6 to 1 here with her getting the 10-hole coming off a loss. I'll price shop with her. (2) ITS A LOVE THING is unbeaten, and she has shown that she has a nose for the wire. She will likely be the one to fend off late. (4) ODDS ON PLATINUM dead-heated for the win with It's a Love Thing last time and she is another one that is sharp and in with a shot tonight. (7) THIS MAGIC MOMENT can pass a few rivals late and land in the bottom of the Tri or Super.

Race 6: 5YO and younger NW1 or $7,500 LT - Pick 5

Shipper (9) NEW SHOOTER just beat a salty field of older rivals that have 75 combined wins, now he races against a field that is a combined 1 for 55. He should be very tough to beat in this local debut. Debutant (8) SANS SOUCI is related to six winners including 25-time winner Later Dudes ($438K, 1:49 F) and 30-time winner Somestarsomewhere ($478K, 1:49 2/5 M). His qualifier on August 4th makes him a contender here. (1) THE SERPENT keeps coming close and he has the speed to overcome post #1; exotics factor. (5) BETTOR BEA TERROR should be good for another small share here.

Race 7: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 4: 3 YO TROTTING FILLIES - Pick 4

(2) RIGHTEOUS RESOLVE stands out here after racing great and just missing in the Hambletonian Oaks. (5) BARONESS HILL had a good tightener for this vs. older. She has a strong chance to complete the Exacta. (7) HP EXTRA ICE will get more aggressive tonight and she should be in the exotics mix. (1) WEDDING DANCER takes frequent shares, and she will be a big price in here. I can see her tripping out racing close to the front and landing in the Tri or Super.

Race 8: 2YO FILLIES: GRASSROOTS STARTERS IN 2023

(1) BONITAS BEST BET was decent in the Battle of the Belles, and she is the one to beat here facing Grassroots types. (7) HOW MUCH is another that exits the Battle of the Belles and Macdonald chose her over the choice who is her stablemate. She should be the main danger. (3) GRANNYS WATCHING looked like a winner until she ran on the last turn when she was about to pass the leader. The break is concerning but she is an obvious threat here if she stays flat. (5) CONTROL THE FIRE was going well until she hit Dresden and broke. She should be a threat tonight with Jamieson back in the bike.

Race 9: Winners of 4 (F&M5) but not more than 6 (F&M7) or $80,000 LT AE: 4YO and 5YO to be claimed for $50,000.

(4) MRMAYOR HANOVER just took a new life's mark now he races off the Montini claim and gets Macdonald back. He should be tough to beat here. (6) WARRAWEE XALT was a good 2nd to the choice after starting from the 9-hole now he draws best. He should be the main threat. (1) WARRAWEE YANG threw in a rare clunker last time. He can rebound and take a share here. (8) BELLA CAVALLA closed from an impossible spot last week, but she will likely suffer the same fate here starting from the widest post; using underneath.

Race 10: 3YO fillies Grassroots starters NW $35,000 in 2023 W/O draw outside

(9) NORTHERN CHARLOTTE is near flawless this year and she is the one to take down here as she seeks a sixth straight win. (3) SHINY NEW PENNY broke through for her first win of the year and it was a lifetime-best effort. She could be a pocket rocket tonight; using. (7) MATCH MEIF YOU CAN is right there every week, but she is 1 for 19. I'll use her underneath. (4) SENIORITA SOLO gets Henry back and she can take a good share here if she stays trotting. (2) OLIVIAS GOLDNUGGET is another coming off a break in stride that can land in the High-5 if she behaves.
