Assuming she is close to 100% for this debut, she should handle maidens. (7) MAI TIDE took big action at the windows in her Grassroots debut, and she tried a wide move that didn’t work. She gets McClure in the bike here and she will probably be a threat in this spot. (3) NIGHT DANCER gets Jamieson in the bike coming off a decent effort in Grassroots company. She should be part of the Tri. (9) HIGHLAND DELIGHT gets Drury tonight and she will likely improve on her poor result in a Grassroots race at Kawartha; price look for the exotics. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS (2) BANK ON LUCAS was setting up a nice rally up the pylons in the stretch last start when a rival veered to the left and took his lane away. He would have been much closer than seven lengths back at the wire had that incident not occurred. Macdonald sticks with him and he gets the nod. (3) NICKEL AND DIME got a needed clean line with the trainer in the bike, and he trotted his back 1/2 in 57-flat. Getting Ratchford back and drawing well now, he is in with a shot tonight. (9) DARKNESS COOKS raced much better last time from post 10 and he could go down the road in this spot if he clears and there are no middle-movers; using. (8) THE TIME MACHINE should improve in this second start. I can see him sneaking into the exotics.   [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS (7) P L SPENCER showed some grit fighting off a persistent rival in the stretch last week and he gets top billing off that sharp effort. (5) HAY DAD made a terrific recovery in his debut and trotted a sizzling final 1/4. He should be the main rival if he stays flat. (9) LITTLE ARROW took a ton of action then got a brutal trip on 7/23. I can see him rebounding here and landing in the Tri. (6) GUCCI GUCCI GOO was 2nd in leg 1 and he could better this placing if he gets another good trip. Race 4: 2YO Colts and Geldings NW1 or $8,000 LT - Pick 4 (5) ZANDER, who finished 2nd and 3rd to some tough colts in his first two starts, looks good here and he gets the nod starting from the middle of the gate. (4) HIDE THE WICK’s debut was impressive with him pacing a 55 1/5 back 1/2 and he should be the main threat to the choice here; using. (9) IMA PERFECT CHOICE fired fast kickers in both starts and he is worth a look for the exotics here. (8) SMILING DANCER tripped out to win a Prospect Series race at Grand River and he attracts the leading driver here. He isn’t impossible here, but the fractions will likely be much faster in this race. Race 5: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES (3) ROYAL SAUCE was beaten by a filly who came back to lose by only a head in a Gold race and this filly will have to be caught here; top call. (1) EARTHA K has been good in both starts but she isn’t the fastest starter, and she draws the rail here which I don’t love. She should be the main danger if she is close enough at the head of the lane. (8) RICH GIRL was McClure’s choice over the #1 and she comes in off a solid Grassroots effort. She has the speed to overcome this post and she is another that could do in here. $55,000 Lexington buy (7) ANGELIC is worth a look for the exotics in this spot. Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES - Pick 5 (9) IVY LYNN just jogged last week, and this Grassroots field doesn’t look much tougher. She will be the one to catch and beat. (5) SHOW ME THE GREEN’s debut was good and she gets a better post here. I wouldn’t be surprised if Henry blasted with here and ended up landing in the choice’s pocket. That makes her worth using on multi-race tickets. (7) MS KIRSI got the clean line that she needed, and she fired a fast kicker. Jamieson stays and she is in with a chance here. I think she gets more aggressive in this spot. (8) GRACES SECRET looks best of the rest, and she can take a slice. Race 7: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES - Pick 4 (2) CHEEKY LASS was a very impressive first up Grassroots winner on debut and she gets the call to repeat but price is gone now. (8) SISTER SARA is the other one in here that comes off a sharp Grassroots win and she should be the main threat. (6) CORE RESOLVE was victim of a massive shuffle in the third 1/4 on 7/16 as several rivals decided to move on a leader that slowed the pace too much. She finished willingly, and she is capable of better, and she should be in the exotics mix here. (1) VOWEL FOR VANNA made two moves then backed up Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS (2) FLEETWOOD MAC trotted a nice back 1/2 in his debut which should have him primed for this initial Grassroots start. This $68,000 Lexington buy gets the nod here. (3) THE GOVERNOR closed nicely for a share on debut, and he looks like one of the best ones in here; using. (8) GRAVENHURST has been raced aggressively in all three starts and taken shares and he should get another one here. (10) WENDELL BLUE CHIP is a morning line choice that I will have to play to beat in this race starting from the widest post. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: CLAIMING HANDICAP $8,000 TO $9,000 (8) BRING YOUR FIRE was good in defeat to a big favorite last week and he has a good shot to lead this field all the way; top call. (3) BIG MACH N races off the Merner claim coming off two dominant wins over overmatched rivals at Dresden. This gelding took a win here on June 11th in a Popup Series race and he is worth using here. (4) SUNSHINE LOVE, 3rd behind the choice last week, can land in the Tri again tonight. (1) JAKE LOEWEN brings some good form in from the B tracks, and he can take a slice in this spot. Race 10: CLAIMING HANDICAP $14,000 TO $18,000 (7) CAPTAIN FIREBALL drops below the level he was claimed for two starts back and I’ll give him a lukewarm nod in a wide-open race. (8) LETS GET ROCKED will likely show speed racing off the McQueen claim and I won’t be surprised if he leads all the way; using. (6) LEGAL BETTOR finished well to take a share behind a blowout winner and Macdonald chose him over the choice. He is another possibility for late multi-race tickets. (4) EL YERNO ships north with spotty form but he drops into a claimer, and he goes for Team Cullen now; price look. (1) MACH IMPACT tripped out to get 2nd last week. He will likely finish in the bottom of the Tri or Super in this spot.
